Imagine this. You have a:-
1) TV
2) DVD Player
3) Camera with cables to connect to TV

Say you wanna listen to the music CD inside the DVD player, you connect the audio output (red and white) to the TV audio sockets.

Now you wanna watch those slides played through your camera, you connect the video output from your camera to your TV video socket (yellow).

Done!

My question is, can you do this with your 2 din player? Playing music from Source 1 and video from Source 2? According to the sales man, only Alpine 2 dins can do that....but Alpines are 6.5"......I would prefer a 7"

currently eyeing on either a JVC or Alpine

please help

depends what your priorities are la now, the 0.5" monitor size difference or the convenience to play all your media together...

by the way....why are u playing your audio thru your tv...???

the TV connection is just an example.

The issue here is the 2din player. My question is, can you play music from Source 1 and video from Source 2 at the same time?

Based on the e-user manual downloaded for both Alpine and JVC, Alpine has such feature with their IVA-W202R. JVC user manual is unclear.....

On top of that, for navigation system, Alpine needs an additional gadget known as the Interrupt Control module or something like that, where the AUX in (voice guidance) would interrupt the music when there is a signal. JVC has this built in it seems, but not written exactly how it is done.

Price difference between the two is RM1000. still thinking which 1 to go for. a friend of mine told me, "Go for ALPINE and you will never go wrong".
But ALPINE IVA-W202R scored 3 star from CNET, while JVC AVX800 scored 5 star.

Why don't just connect the output for the slides to source 1 video?
Would a y-cable work too? both camera and dvd player connect to Y-Cable then connects to source 1 or 2 on the HU?

JVC got time correction/optical output etc?
I assume you're saying that the Alpine is RM1000 more expensive than the JVC.
My personal point of view. 0.5" diagonal difference should not be that much noticeable right?

What is the reason the Alpine got 3 and the JVC got 5 star?

Please look here for the JVC installation instruction if it helps :)

thanks a lot cacin. appreciate the link that u gave me.
but then, any bro here can confirm whether JVC has interrupt control?
if u look at the link given by cacin, the navigation system connects to the video in and audio line in. does that mean, i cannot play music anymore?
please help. or any bros who are using JVC....thanx.

yep, Alpine scored 3 star, while JVC scored 5. According to CNET reviewer, the JVC-AX800/905 has every feature enthusiast needs. the IVA-W202R is impressive only when you are aware of the accessories list.

usually navigation will interrupt for short while only, while giving instructions, then music comes back on.

Interrupt normally happens for a while as what Zenn mentions. Some HU also have phone interrupt (KDC-X7529 & CDA-9815). This will mute your HU when you receive phone calls. Base on my 'googling around' a Nokia bluetooth handsfree device send a signal out to your HU through this interrupt wire to mute the Audio while you're receiving calls (no need to rush for the mute button).
What is your planned setup? You want to use navigation too?
I rechecked the wiring diagram and these are my thoughts.
The video/audio in jack can be connected to a navigation system or other external source (Ipod video?).
I would like to assume that the navigation system might also be connected through the cd changer slot. But, I can't confirm this as never look at a navigation system myself.
I would assume that you can change the source on the HU to select that particular output.
So, it's like aux input but with video?
