Yesteday we had our first shakedown test for our brand new car. Fairuz Fauzy was behind the wheel. The Ferrari powered racer is a completely different car to last season's Lola-Zytek and is already proving to be a lot quicker.

The car ran for the first time yesterday surprisingly without any glitches. The team ran installation laps to run in the new engine as well as other routine tasks. Fairuz's feedback on the new car is good despite the wet track conditions.

Test will continue tomorrow at the same track.

of course ferrari is proven faster... and where is the lola-zytek came from?

Lola and Zytek are both manufacturers from the UK

Lola is a very famous race chassis manufacturer

Zytek is a very well known race engine manufacturer. They supplied the 3.4L V8 we used prior to this.

Both companies are highly regarded in the motorsport industry.

The Zytek V8 gave us 550hp and 420Nm from 3.4L V8 race engine and never ever blew up in 3 seasons of racing among 22-23 nations competing. They are only rebuilt roughly after half a season of racing or roughly over 10 races or so. Very reliable. In terms of specific output (hp per L, Nm per L) they are more powerful that the current Ferrari units. They also had great noise.

The new Ferrari V8 marks a new phase in A1GP. It is more powerful because it is higher in displacement. It is also 40kg heavier. It is actually based on a road engine, the Ferrari 430 GT2, in turn based on the F430 road car.

Second day of testing (yesterday) Fairuz set the fastest lap and also broke Ayrton Senna's lap record at Donington
