Audi has recently pledged to scale down on the cylinder-count wars that it ignited over the last decade for its performance variants so chances of the Lamborghini 5.2-liter V10 found in the current S6 making its way to the S7 is as likely as Lady Gaga developing a fashion sense.</p><p></p><p>The 4.2-liter FSI V8 that currently resides in the S5 and R8 has also been distanced from by the Ingolstadt boys so it’s unlikely it will find its way under the hood of the S7. Interestingly, sister brand Bentley has just released details on a V8 engine for its 2011 Continental GT and the whispers sing the song of a direct-injected 4-liter turbo. It’s possible that this engine could be given the Audi performance treatment and trickle down the new S6/S7S8 range in the time to come.</p><p></p><p>Power is expected to reach all four wheels through a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch while the possibility of a six-speed manual remains for the true enthusiast.
