Hi guys first post here forgive if there's some lack-of-knowledge question being asked.

Was considering of getting myself a FD2R (Facelift 09/10) for daily usage.
So my question is which one to go for? RECONDS or USED Honda Malaysia private owner?

As far as I'm concern, the RECONDS is slightly more expensive but it do have lower mileage (20-30k mileage) while used ones are mostly (60-70k). And of course, RECONDS one are much better in condition (paints, interior cleanliness, overall). I might be wrong as I'm kinda new in this that's why I'm asking here. I was also skeptical on the mileage as someone told me it can be tweaked/tuned into lower mileage not sure if its real and can it be done on FD2R?

Have consulted with 2-3 friends of mine. A few points have been made there.
RECONDS
1) RECONDS have better condition engine as they were maintained in Japan with Ron100 while "some people" here using RON95 to feed their FD2R.
2) RECONDS have lower mileage which is important?
3) Better in overall condition as it's been reconditioned.

MALAYSIA FD2R
1) Most of it has been modified which is a bonus (flashpro, exhaust, filters)
2) Have service record from Honda Malaysia
3) At least more trust-able
4) Slightly cheaper because of higher mileage but some said it was fine mileage 60-70k is normal.

Well so I really couldnt make up my mind! So sifu-sifus here please give some opinions. :adore: I'm really looking for one without much heavy modifications. Reliability is my major concern.

Feeding RON95 to K20A engine in FD2R? I don't think that is possible unless the owner lowered the engine compression which will definitely lower the engine power output.

Don't take the mileage for recon cars into account. It's 90% modified to show a lower mileage.

You're better off buying cheap from a direct seller, then spend the savings on refurbishing the car. Do a full engine service then replace worn bits and pieces and hey presto, a car that's almost as good as new!

I'd trust a direct seller more than a used car / recon car sales man.

talk about modifying mileage, helped a friend to sell his honda. a salesman picked it up at a real bargain price - new car arrived and quite a high mileage.
next week found in mudah.my the odometer trip advertised only half of the 3 yo car and true enough we went to check they tricked up the mileage.

talking from my personal experience, when to japan to join my cousin who studied there back in 2008. got the idea of bringing a car via student AP gatal tangan and racun my cousin for a V spec R34. the car was made in 2002 and the only a virgin 15k+ km on odometer. not 1 but 2 GTRs we went to see were that low. all in tokyo prefecture where conveniently public transport is a way to go and parking are hell expensive.

two side of the stories but then i think if u go either way pls exercise some caution.
goodluck.

Thanks for all the replies. Appreciate it. Well 60k-70k mileage is consider alot for the FD2?

its a matter of personal preference. if ur talking about 4 yo car with 60-70k km i think its aint bad.
on average of 15k km/year.
