here's some review i got from my email about the new perodua car 'VIVA'...sorry if it's already posted somewhere else... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I just got my 660cc Viva today from the SC. 1st off, while checking for any problem with the car, I noticed that the black plastic cover of the interior right beside the mirror on the passenger side was loose. I told the SA that there is a problem with it and he tried to fix it but to no avail. He told me when I go for my first service, complain to the service centre as it is still under warranty. Since it's a small thing, I just agree with it. Other that that, there is no other problem with the car. The exterior looks nice, and I would say that the colour I've chosen - glittering silver fits the colour of the 660 bumper perfectly! On the interior of the car, the car actually felt quite comfortable (dunno bout the back seat though... as there are no head rest for the back) despite branded "low quality" by P2. I have to admit though, the fabric feels abit low quality-ish but it's rather comfortable. Huge leg room for me (I'm 6 foot tall). The dashboard lights are in orange colour while a purple background for finishing touch. Quite stylish, at least for me though. Performance wise.... I would say the car is really under power. I used to drive my dad's Myvi 1.0 which was already under power. Going up a hill (the hill from sprint highway leading towards the section 16/jln university.. around 20% increment?) requires me to down shift to 3rd gear. But it's kind of expected for the 660cc. But it is much much better than kancil 660 in my opinion! The clutch is kind of 'short' whereby a small lift of your leg is like lifting a lot - kind of like sports clutch. But it is very smooth, easy to press on and does no require much strength (so you don't need to worry about traffic jams). The engine response is kind of slow... or perhaps I kept short shifting it, I'm not sure. It takes a while for the power to come in though. I shifted around 2500-3000 rpm. Somehow the engine was supposed to be a high rev-er so perhaps I need to rev it higher. Fuel consumption wise... I'm not really sure as I've just travelled about 50+km and a bar just went down. Lol. There are around... 5-6 bars? I think... Who says you need a power steering for a car. With a Viva, I don't think you would ever need a power steering. The steering is quite light. Just a little heavier than a 1.0 Myvi's power steering. I have to say I'm rather surprised too! The audio system in 660 Viva sux though. But what can you expect with a cassette player and 2 speakers? I would say it is identical with Myvi 1.0 audio system minus the CD, but add in the cassette. P2 gave me a RM20 petrol voucher but the SA gave me full tank of petrol. I've also a free voucher for a 6 inch tint for windscreen and numbering for the glass. Can't expect alot of free gift for the 660 version... Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the car. All I have to do now is get used to the 'short clutch' and the gear ratios Comment 2: I just got mine Viva Premium Model(A) in Silver Metallic colors after only 14 days from booking(booked a day before the introduction) . So this car must be the 1st batch off the factory. Traded in mine Kancil 850EX(yrs 2000) at miserable price of rm9,000/=. Got extended warranty of 3 years + 3 years manufacturer warranty so that six years with the condition of all servicing have to be at P2 SC. How is the car? The Good Points first: + Good, Smooth & Fast accelleration for a Auto Transmission Car + Easy making of U-Turns, very small radius and since power steering can use little finger to turn steering. + As like the Kancil, Parking is a joy + Driver Seat Height Adjustment a nice touch, adjust high U feel like driving a SUV, adjust low, it feel like driving a sport car. + Back Seat Passenger very comfortable with ample leg room. The Bad Points - Rough ride on bumpy road, same as Kancil lousy absorbers. - Feel high vibration when engine at idling speed(it below the 1000 rpm mark), Hopefully it will improve after 1st service. - Petrol Cap not attached to body of car, have to place it on car roof when filling petrol. Guess this the only experience I have on the car after 3 hours of owning it. Have to get use to having the booth and petrol port cover at the middle between front seats and it is only 1 lever, pull up for opening booths, push down for petrol port cover. The petrol gauge is digital just like H/phone battery power level and as usual the mileage(km/age) in digital and mine was already 20 km old when I took the car. The remote locking and unlocking of the cars do not have sound, can only know if the remote is working by looking at light blink once lock, blink twice unlock. Have not tried the power windows yet cosʼ just tinted the windows. The pull back of the side mirror is smooth and stylish with just a push of a button, but it would be a nicer touch if it pull back when U switch off the engine. The CD player sound O.K. and sounds from all 4 doors speakers louds and clear. OK guess I stopped here and take the car out for another spin. As for those who comment that this car is for Ah Soh, Ah Mui or Ah Quars well for each his own. U kaya U beli Beemer, U miskin U beli buatan Malaysia . U suka bawak laju, U beli Ferrari, U suka drifting, U beli snow mobile or speed boat, U suka jimat petrol, U beli basikal. hmmm... went to Perodua showroom yesterday night. here is my review on Viva. 1) Exterior - When I look at the design, it look quite impressive at first. But after a while, it look dull and familiar too. Then the salesman quickly said is almost similar to Advanza design and concept. Just remove the luggage compart section and look the same. The more I look, the more it look like kancil (new design type). Just expanded of Kancil. 2) Interior - Look quite dull to me especially the CD player... look so fake. Basically, the gear & handbrake compartment - same design with Kelisa - admit by Salesman. The door panel look very plastic (but for that price - consider alright) and have minor defect on the showroom car. The luggage compart (for MHO) - look smaller than kelisa. Nothing fancy about it and it have 61 horsepower (for 1000cc). Better than MYVI 1000cc (as claimed) 4) Fuel - When enquiry about it, the salesman didnt mention it directly to me. Somehow bring me a long talk and then just tell me the figure. He said is much efficient compare to Kelisa and MYVI. Around 17 - 18km/l ... as per factory testing. So when reach to our hand, we cant expect it to perform around 18km/l ... should be much lower ... ~15km/l 5) Tyre - The spare tyre look very small and indeed is a really spare tyre - only used when one of the tyre inflated. Somehow will reduce the weight of the car... better FC. 6) Sideskirt - Noticed they putting the sideskirt for viva (all model). Look low and anytime can hit the bump ... roughly around 10 to max 15cm height (from bottom to skirting). 7) Weight - Somehow the weight for viva just around 10KG different from Kelisa. Not much different. Lastly, the pricing. I was quite shocked to see the Full Spec (Premium for EZi) is costing RM44K++ with ABS, EBD & Air Bag. I might just add another RM2K and get a 1.3cc MYVI standard and slightly much bigger. This is my review... and somehow the salesman keep on pushing me for buying it. No no...
