Hi Im newbie into this forum and auto world therefore im lack of knowledge on this matter.

Understand that getting an old car is a risk to take as it need to do a lot of service and need a lot of time to salvage the parts.

I would like to know whether Daihatsu Ascent (Manual) is a good idea to own as I’ve been interested to own it due to my tight budget. Pretty sure that many of you will suggest to go for locals cars due to spare parts and etc but I’ve been wondering about this car actually.

Therefore who ever have been using this car, hope that you can share your experience on this car.

Aside from that, Is there any good Daihatsu service shop around KL ?

Ascent is very old. But quite a basic car. I think any general mechanic should know how to maintain it.

Bro maver1ck, beside spare parts. Anyway still can source at chop shop.

But rare cars, less chop also. Like my Sonata III now body parts really difficult to find. Even the chop shop specialized in Korean cars say Sonata 5 plenty. Sonata III those days not many import so less chop also....:banghead:

Hi All,

Thanks for your advise.
Yup spare parts is the hardest thing to get as its an very old car.
But i think i saw 1 or 2 chop shop near my house.
thats why im wondering whether it worth to get.

Chop shop seldom carry "cold" cars. Do you consider a Suzuki Vitara cold? Versus the Ascend confirm the Daihatsu more cold.

Finding parts for the Vitara has been a f**king pain in the ass... if you enjoy taking it from behind... then go ahead.

My personal experience la. Damn sien wanna find parts.
