E36 318i...What is this?Check light?

hi all sifu,my bro's E36 318i auto yr 92 has a problem.i wonder what is the light attached suppose to mean?it appear after 5-15 minutes of ride & never gone unless i stop the car & restart again...when tis icon appear,i feel like the car cant engage to 1st gear even i push to neutral & pull back to D.so when tis problem occur,& im at the middle of a junction/traffic turn to green,i hv to gif it a full acceleration so tat the car can move.

Doesn't the BMW show what is the problem, digitally below the tach?

there is a gear symbol with a ! inside of it.sorry this pic taken by my hp,not as clear as digicam.

so any idea?

Error in gearbox TCM. Either something is fried or gearbox sensor is faulty.

aha transprogram light mean ur gear box in faulty. may be ur clutch plate burn or solenoid valve. scare to talk about overhaul gear box. u must know the brand BMW means Banyak Makan Wang. for ur info im now wrking at bmw as tech.
