hi guys.. wanna asking something.. i just bought myvi, so for the first service i think i wanna use fully syntetic oil.. is that ok with the car or just use semi syntetic oil.. i dont know the different in term of what.. someone advise me.. thanks..!!

No need for full synth for your kind of engine, it's just wasting money. Semi synth is more than good enough.

oo i see.. so what oil is suitable for myvi actually.. yes, may be when i send to service centre they will suggest bla bla bla, but al least i should have some knowledge bout that. and i also cant understand what is mean by 0w/30, 5w/30, 10w/30... or do u know any link that will explain further.. i'm just bought new car, and i try to do my best for the car.. thanks for the reply..

If new car, then just follow the recommended service. I believe for Myvi, the suggested oil is actually Perodua oil made by Petronas and it's only mineral, not even semi-synth. So if you want to upgrade, semi-synth is more than enough already, and better to switch only by the 5000km oil change to allow the piston rings to settle properly first with the mineral oil.
The 0W30, 5W30, etc2. indicates the multi-viscosity rating of the oil. A 5W30 means the oil is rated to have a viscosity rating of 5 during cold (denoted by the W = winter) and would not get thinner than 30 viscosity rating during hot operating temperature. If you want to learn more, than this link is a good start: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

Perodua original engine oil for Myvi is semi-synthetic in 4L packing. I have NOT seen any original 4L perodua mineral engine oil in authorized P2 SC and P2 owned SC.

The engine oil is good for 10,000km for the Myvi according to the owner's manual.

if your car under warranty just use the p2 semi syn and follow the service period.. its good enough. the car won't break down, it will be just as fuel efficient as using rm2xx mobil 1 (i know i done it before). this is of course..normal street driving..if you take your car to sepang its a different story!
