I've seen an old Jag or Volvo's carb engine being converted to EFI. The workshop used a standalone Haltech E6K as the ECU. They cut and welded the stock carb manifold to convert it to EFI.. it's a twin carb manifold, and it's converted to twin throttles with a 550cc fuel injector at each throttle. In effect, it's still almost like a caburetted car, with the fuel being jetted past the throttle opening rather than being jetted for individual cylinders. They'll have to add a form of air metering and AFR sensing also. Being a programmable standalone ECU, they could actually mix and match to suit their needs.. can use a wideband sensor at the exhaust pipe for AFR sensing, and they can even plonk in Proton or Nissan airflow sensor, it doesn't matter. The Haltech ECU can be configured to read the inputs of so many different types of sensors, and control so many different types of injectors.</blockquote>
