And thus the benefits are huge in terms of reducing inertia: power does not change, but engine response does, as well as acceleration.</p><p></p><p>For engine pulleys, what you really want is you're looking at additional power is an 'under-drive pulley'. This is a pulley which has a smaller diameter, and therefore spins up that little bit quicker and has a little less friction. What this means is that your alternator will probably not start charging till 1500rpm as against to 800rpm for a stock pulley. Again, for high-performance/racing applications, the car isn't stuck in idle at traffic jams so alternator charging is not an issue.</p><p></p><p>The gains you can expect from an underdrive pulley? Probably 1hp from our 2L engine. Maybe 1.5hp if you're lucky :)</p><p></p><p>But as it'll be an aftermarket job out of aluminum alloy with no rubber dampener, it'll still screw the harmonics. </p><p></p><p>/adian</p></blockquote><p></p>
