Is this dangerous or lucky???

yesterday i heard some electric shock sounds when playing comp. then my comp hang. i on my comp n i can't connect to the internet alr.

so i tot is normal la modem kena strike... but after testing today i found out is network card kena strike... modem is safe n sound???

then i change a network card today n everything goes fine...
strike network card or modem more dangerous.

coz as far as i know strike modem means modem roask... but now it struck the network card wic is so near to the motherborad. If the lighting was stronger does it mean my motherboard was alr "chao ta" yesterday??? :o

Normally, if struck by lightning, the motherboard will go also. But I guess you damn lucky la! :P

For now, just go out any buy a cheap network card... should be RM 20+ nowadays. But more and keep as spare.

luckily i got extra network card.
when apply streamyx get for free 1.
then motherboard got alr so diden use.

but if strike modem won kena the motherboard rite? :huh:

Depends on ur luck la... sometimes, if lightning struck the modem, it will fry the motherboard also.

yap ..depend on ur luck ....in so lucky ok la ...just modem ..or network card ..if not maybe whole pc ... or whole house ....

You know lightning not only does strike through telephone lines but can also strike electric lines. If it does your PSU will be the first to go.

For safety reasons if you're on a budget.
Go and buy a lightning surge protector should be about RM50.
Your electric mains, telephone, TV and LAN lines should be protected by this, some models only protect your mains and telephone line, which should be enough for most people.
Next buy a few small fax machine lightning aresstors. Its a small box with a fuse in which there is an input/output for your telephone line. Its cheap depending on where you buy it ,RM7 and a above if i recall correctly. What you do is buy a few of this then string them together and connect it before yourr lightning surge protector.

Reason is if kena lightning strike you cheap fax machine lightning aresstors will go first before they hit your lightning surge protector. ;)

Later when you got the budget get a 3-in-1 combo UPS, auto voltage regulator and surge protector box and connected to after your lightning surge protector.

Remember cheap ones first coz they're cheaper to replace ;)

but after the pc being struck by lighthing,is there a problem?like your pc is kind of slow compare before being struck..is your pc always "hang" ?if ok,you are very lucky..
