Greetings all, I come in peace :D
What can I get with a budget of 800-1000?
I listen to all songs, but not the hardcore loud songs.
Can I get a decent set for my budget?

Have looked around a bit, found
1) Eclipse SPKSP 6500 component set (Rm650) 2) Nakamichi SP-CS63 component set (RM488)
3) Alphine Type G component set (Rm598)

Amp I haven't got any clue though.

My ride is a toyota corolla AE101, 6 speeder blacktop. So its a bit loud..not sure this factor would contributes to the type of speaker that I am buying or not.

Your advises would be greatly appreciated.

bro if u looking for subwoofer i got brand new 2 pcs 10" soundstream subwoofers.... still in its plastic... my number is 019-3557714

Between the three I like #2.

But for that sort of price, about RM700 you can buy brand new speakers mah

TS, please allocate some $$ for sound attenuation. You're driving an old and gold car so the rattling noises are more obvious. Do u plan install subwoofer? You will not get much bass from component sets and the sound will be kinda flooded with treble...One 12" subwoofer can help in overlapping the noise from your exhaust and engine..my 2 cents

i have a set Helix Blue comp, 1 x 4ch amp (can't rem brand but not bad), 2x12" sub with hardwood box together with a pioneer 5750 HU

All together with wiring. Interested let me know via PM

No, I won't be getting a subwoofer. Not into the boom boom type. But yeah, was a bit worried because my car also comes with hks silent hi power exhaust..

Btw, I got an offer of focal ps165 component set for only RM8xx without installation. If I take these I might add in another rm600 for a decent amp.

What do you guys think?

Are powered subs under the budget category? Would anyone recommend them, or they just plain suck?

phywze...powered subs are adequate. bigger is better so on any chance u get, choose 12" over 8". bigger is better for bass. not everybody has superman ears n can hear the difference a anyways.

....but if $$$ is not an issue, a super hi end 8" will beat the balls off a super cheap 12" anytime of the day in terms of SQL n SPL

word of advise....ICE is a very expensive branch of mods. if u get bitten, there's no limit to how much you can spend on ICE mods alone...

In my opinion, woofer is not only for SPL kaki.
Sometime even in SQ, we still need the woofer to run those low frequency sound
So far I never have chance to audit anycar with nice sounding without Woofer support, perhaps someday someone can change my impression:biggrin:
Anyway, 8", 10" or 12" no a big deal as long as not a SPL kaki just the bigger woofer will let u spend more $$ on amp to drive it:banghead:

for a good start, i will recommend a good hu and component, choose component that can be driven by hu itself, then soundproof front door to get good and proper sound. Indeed you will need a sub although you are not into boom boom style, but for now, a properly done simple system shall be good enough.

800 to 1000 is enough to start playing ice....u should survey how u want ur setup done....playing bass or good sound like orchestra sound...hehe.....a head unit should make u clearer to starts with..then buy 4 or 6 channel amp to make sound out clearer...if budget no enough 2 channel amp put for bass unit first then find 6 or 7 or 8 inch speaker with built in tweeter....tis is my 2 cent opinion la...:proud:
