Mini’s return to the rally stage has shifted into top gear with some official shots of its Countryman World Rally Championship prototype beating at the dirt track of Prodrive’s private testing facility appearing on the interwebs.

According to Mini, the testing was conducted over four days on a variety of surfaces with the majority of it being on tarmac routes. Nonetheless, the car was thrown on some low-grip grave surfaces in lieu of the upcoming full-stage testing in Portugal that will see the prototype undergo a barrage a of abuse for a full week on gravel surfaces.

While the prototype is wrapped in the swirly cam the brand reserves for its production test mules, the folks at Mini stated that the final exterior package is still under development at Prodrive.

We’re just getting some serious wood at the sight of a Mini kicking up dirt and taking corners sideways again.
