Montoya to leave F1?

Easy.

Renault
1. Giancarlo Fisichella
2. Heikki Kovalainen

McLaren
1. Kimi Raikonen
2. Fernando Alonso

Ferrari
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Philippe Massa

I'd like to see Lewis Hamilton come up - but Ron has got 2 young hot shot and quick drivers and he intends to keep them. It won't be the first time he had two hot shot drivers ala a certain Brazillian and a Frenchman when they won EVERY race and both the drivers and constructors championship in the same season.

Ferrari is built around Michael- no reason for him to leave and have to start somewhere else. (unless its back with Flavio to whom he very is familar with) Massa is a good servant to the team and toes the line - apart from trashing the odd red machine. They will keep Massa because he won't rock the boat and he's young enough to wait for his turn. Eddie and Reubens couldnt wait wanted to shine too which didnt fit in well at Ferrari - so they had to go.

Frank would want to keep Nico until he wins his Drivers Championship- then he'll fire Nico like he did to his last 2 world champion drivers. Webber will run out of patience and will try to get a leg into other teams like Ferrari and Sauber. Don't ja just wish Uncle Jack (Brabham) was will running a team?

Poor Nick - overlooked by McLaren and now...BMW is going to dump him at the end of the season. He'll give Uncle Jean and Mika a run for their money in the DTM if...BMW ever gets back into it. The renewed attitude and rebranded Villeneve is surprisingly doing well at BMW and will keep him to anchor the team. Just wait till they ask him to test... we'll see if he's really turn over his prima donna attitude.

Who will Aguri-san keep? Taku hasn't been doing anything special and Franck is a passenger who unfortunately is not Japanese. Blame it on the machines but Augri can hadrly say that his cars are crap. With the new chasis- hopefully the cars be more reliable. If you ask me (and Jensen)- its Honda's crap engine that's the monkey.

The one thing that Scott Speed and JPM have in common is that they are both ex CART/INDYCAR drivers. Add that to Alex Zanardi's 'success' in F1... Bernie should discourage letting these guys in to F1. They're a bloody waste of time.

From Mercedes to a Dodge....Priceless

Ganassi tabs Montoya to drive No. 42 in '07
OLIET, Ill. -- In one of the most surprising driver announcements in recent memory, Chip Ganassi on Sunday named Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya to drive his No. 42 Dodge in 2007.

Montoya, 30, has no NASCAR experience. Ganassi signed Montoya to a multi-year deal, which makes him the first F1 regular to make the move to Nextel Cup. Montoya has been an F1 regular since 2001.

"Chip told me, 'You need to convince me that you need to do this,'" said Montoya. "'It is a matter of three years down the road, will you be excited doing what you're doing?'. I will be a lot happier here."

The No. 42 Dodge was considered by some in the Cup garage to be the best available car for 2007. Casey Mears announced last month that he was leaving Ganassi to drive the No. 25 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.

Not long after Mears' defection, Montoya called Ganassi and asked for the job -- and Ganassi gave it to him. Just like that.

"It took us an hour to go through everything," said Montoya. "It was that simple. It is hard to turn it down."

Ganassi knows that Montoya will face a steep learning curve, but he also said that he expects Montoya to succeed at NASCAR's top level.

"I have seen this guy adapt to car like no driver like I have ever seen," Ganassi said. "No question, he can adapt to a Cup car. He will be doing Cup and Busch. I know my team is up for it. Is it not going to be a walk in the park."

Montoya is in the midst of the F1 season, which does not end until Oct. 22. After that is complete, Montoya will immediately begin testing for next season.

Because Montoya has no stock car experience, he will have to undergo a rigid program designed to get him approved by NASCAR for the 2007 Daytona 500.

"It is going to be a lot tougher than you think," Montoya said. "I am glad to be here. I had a couple of options in F1, but coming here and knowing I am going to be a rookie again, to be here in America is exciting. I couldn't turn this down. I couldn't throw it away."

Ganassi said that he has a structured plan to get Montoya cleared to race.

INDY SHUFFLE
Nearly three years ago, Juan Pablo Montoya traded rides with Jeff Gordon for a day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"We looked at the F1 schedule and we are working closely to get everyone involved," said Ganassi. "When the F1 season ends, we can squeeze a couple of things in. It is going to be a busy winter."

Montoya won the 2000 Indy 500 while driving for Ganassi, but Ganassi said that Montoya won't be doing the Indy-Charlotte double.

Still, Ganassi said that his team was ecstatic about the hiring.

"Everyone was surprised and yet, they were pleasantly surprised," said Ganassi. "Obviously, our team has had its up and downs, and we were sort of concerned about what type of driver was going to be available."

what would F1 be without Montoya...eheheh

JPM is really a good driver to my opinion... remember the first few years he was in F1... the years of partnering Ralf in Williams... he was heck of a fast fella... and he fought with Schumi and everyone else and even his own teammate like there was no tomorrow... but he was a frequent engine destruction specialist back then... the BMW engines could not last long in his hands... i remember once he even lapped schumi in the old Hockenheim track layout... i guess he lossed his steam much like Kimi did...

wonder if he will blame McLaren for this:X-:

i want to see MIKA HAKKINEN return to mclaren...partner with KIMI

hahahahahaha

I liked JPM when he first came- he wasnt scared of michael and he took him on. But as time passed with some flashes of brilliance- he didnt do much. And he shot his mouth off when it wasnt needed. He had no humility and blames other for his misfortunes. Yes he has had a string of bad luck but his behaviour sucks.

If you look at the difference between JPM and Jensen- when the BMW engines were not doing well- JPM went and bad mouthed it and same went for Mercedes. The honda engines are crap but you dont see JB mouthing off at the team and the car.

I'd watch NASCAR when JPM drives- but I think F1 deserves a bit more respect that selfish shit JPM showed it by coming in and trashing the sport and leaving his mess.

Montoya leave F1 for NASCAR was really a shocking news for everyone. But anywhere I hope Montoya was perform in NASCAR cause and F1 I believe he fail to watch wat he is made off. And for Flavio go to McLaren I think that is not going to happen cause Ron Dennis is a great boss at McLaren. Flavio likes to show off

Hah, comeon don't be harsh on him. As least he's trying and credits must be given as he types in proper sentences unlike some who types without capital letter, fullstop and comma. Even worst when some type with their modified street Bahasa ie. giler, pompuan, engko and etc. Hate it!

But i do agree that the hype on Montoya sort of quiet down after he joined Mclaren. When he first came, he brought dramas to the track with his flamboyant driving style and gung-ho racing. It was fun seeing him pushing hard and giving not an inch away even with Michael. That was during the Williams days.

After joining Mclaren, he looked pretty average. Not to say he's a bad driver, rather he's been more consistent and not willing to take risk when dicing it out with other drivers. You could count on him to bring in the points in races that he did not suffer any bad luck. Generally, i'd summerize his time in Mclaren as good, not spectacular.

Yeah, maybe a bit harsh. For a while there, I thought he spoke the same language as Flavio Briatore. Speaks like he's from another planet, Flavio I mean.

I do agree on Montoya.

Montoya - I was bored at McLaren
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=127250

Juan Pablo Montoya has spoken out for the first time since he made the announcement he was leaving McLaren and Formula One for a drive in NASCAR, saying that he found himself bored at the Mercedes-powered team. The Colombian said he was not getting anything out of constantly finishing behind Ferrari and Renault.

"I was bored and no longer enjoying the races," Montoya told Colombian newspaper El Tiempo. "I had a good time in Formula One and achieved almost all my goals there - apart from winning the championship. I realised my chances of doing that were minimal."

"My chances of becoming World Champion at McLaren were very slim," he added. "It's not much fun always fighting to finish fifth. I wanted a new challenge and that's what I found in NASCAR. It will be another new experience for me, especially with so much more racing. NASCAR is a different world."

Montoya went on to describe the moment he told Ron Dennis he was leaving for NASCAR.

"The coversation lasted about twenty seconds," the Colombian revealed. "He had nothing to say and then they didn't want me driving the car any more because they thought I would no longer be completely focused on Formula One."
20 secs..... lol.
