I bought a used car used as private in Oct 2012 use UniAsia insurance service at the same time but my road tax was due on Dec 2012. Having insured by UniAsia for a year, I only managed to renew my road tax until June 2013.

As answered by the JPJ personnel, I'm able to extend my insurance 2 months more in order to renew my road tax which is due in June 2013 until Dec 2013. By doing so, the next road tax and insurance renewal time would be the same.

Is that possible ? As I'm told by the agent I might cannot do that.

As far as I know, you have to purchase more than 1 year to cover, they don't sell insurance by months means you should have bought cover until Dec 2013 when you first bought the car.
What you can do now is to purchase insurance until Dec 2014, then renew your road tax for 6 months, then later renew road tax for a year using the same insurance that covers until Dec 2014.
I did for my 2nd hand car last time, I think should be still the same procedure....

yeah can, when i wanted to purchase 3rd party insurance for my car @ pos malaysia, the officer told me that. cos my insurance was short of 2 mths. so i can renew my roadtax for 6 mths only. the other 6 mths i need to top up my insurance 1st before can renew roadtax.

For comprehensive insurance, must buy full year and add the number of months balance....

Correct me if Im wrong...

Wangsa Maju JPJ allows you to maintain the balance months of insurance without topping up to
full duration year

However it can shorten the roadtax expiry date to match your insurance expiry date.

Therefore you can start fresh upon expiry of both...

You can claim back the unused months but won't be 10/12 months. Insurance company have a calculation for it and usually their advantage. Check with your insurance company
