hi, guys. I need some assistant with my microtech ecu which i just bought it back. I want to do the ecu tuning using my laptop which i bought a USB-to-Serial port connector from the pc shop which i wanted connect to the ecu directly, and the microtech tuning software i download it directly from the microtech website. Eventually, i cant connect with the cable i bought from the pc shop with the downloaded microtech software. Is it that i need to buy the original software and cable from microtech than i can done with my job?

plz help guys... thanks!

same issue goes with those power FC datalogit owners...
u need to source for a USB2.0 complaint converter. alot of them are limited to USB 1.1 which doesn't work for most cases like ours that required high data transfer rate.
price is around RM 40 per set.

btw, once u installed it... it'll automatically assign a port for you... like say.. cOM6... yes.. it is that far.. unless you manually set the port to COM3 or COM1 depending if it's being used.

then you need to check on the microtech software if they are reading from the designated COM port.. if it's meant to read COM1... and your serial-to-USB auto assigned at COM6... you'll never get it read...

hope this helps..

as for how to change the com ports... you need to see microsoft's help... can't teach u through here...

thanks for the information, i did change it to com1.. but stil cant read it.. maybe i need to buy the original cable (maybe with micro chip) and licensed software from microtech. do anyone try before? do u think so?

actually.. it's not necessary... it's just pure luck on getting one...
powerFC ones they have a 100% verified one.. which cost blardy expensive.. USD 35 for a set.. where i get mine for RM 40 per set..

there's one turn off using mine... sometimes it gives blue screen when i datalog too long.. like say more than 15 minutes...

i believe it's worth trying on other brand.. making sure it's USB2.0 complaint..
i'm using this called HUGE PINE converter.. it has a microchip built in... it needs to install a driver before continue..

my advise.. keep trying to buy :) or just get it from their website... but it cost really a certain amount of money...
