ello..juz bought eg with b16a.so i plan to go service.which oil should i use? some say for old engine should use non sintetik but service every 3k.but some i asked they say use toyota oil..i dono la..if use castrol magnatec ok or not?fyi my engine mileage clocks a 220k.thx a lot...

correct recommended thickness is SAE10/40W, which most people consider semi synthetic. Recommended mileage for each change is 10K in the manual, but oil level will be dangerously low by then, depending on the wear of the piston rings.

5/40W is usable, 0/20W is for track days, which after that should be emptied and replaced with normal oil for daily driving.

As for brands. I'm not really particular. Simply put, quality oils with better additives cost more.

if you not really sure just go for vtec-lev oils....or not just use helix semi oils or not idemitsu(vtec -lev is also idemitsu)

wut is vtec-lev?idemitsu? ape tu? really2 new in this vtec arena..would really appreciate if u guys elaborate further..

if u use your car for daily driving, just use any semi-syn whatever brands that give good free gift ler....

ya correct....got free gifts...but the best last time is i bought is petronas...free 6 cans of pepsi twist!!!

All the while, I'm using Q8 semi syn for my B16, 10/40w. Tried 5/30w not bad on performance, very smooth. For better protection use 10/40w.

Using Castrol EDGE Fully syn now (coz got it free), same performance but last longer. Now 8000km still ok. Changing this weekend, just for testing.

The best oil is still Red line. Proven in many tests. Motul 2nd.

where to get idemitsu oil? (kl area)
what are the recommended retail price? (10w 40)

Sasuke, how do you test oil? Recently I just changed to Motul 10/40, but can't feel any difference! I was using Caltax 10/40 semi synthetic

for me after using / trying many types of oil ;

1) Chemlube fully Synthetic 10w/40 ( make sure your piston ring is in good cond )
Ester base ( cheaper than Motul )

2) Chemlube 10w/40 (Esterbond) Semi ( 90% reduce my tappet sound ! )

2) Motul 6100 10w/40 ( Synergie ) Semi ( fells like using Fully )

I only choose oil with Ester base ..google around to see what's the usage..;)

Chemlube? never heard that name. where to get it n how much for 10/40?

I was using the new Motul 10/40 name Multipower Plus......... feels worst than caltax semi 10/40 la!!!! Somemore so expensive!! RM100

Chemlube has 3 different range...10w/30 , 10w/40 & 20w/50,,all r fully synthetic..
I'm not an agent or getting commission...only a satisfied user...for 10w/40 will
cost u rm176 & guarenteed for 10,000km...

here's the link : www.chemlube.com.my
and read here : http://engineoil.blogspot.com/

read & understand...the oil inside Jet engine is the only Ester base blend oil...
