Maybe they are subjected to a form or Tax like those 'luxury taxes' subjected to iPods. Hence increasing the price of the original handset.Anyway, back to the 838 Pro and the Softbank. Sometimes, the firmware of Softbank tend to be a version ahead frm the local 838 Pros. Hence you'll probably need to wait for the local firmware to catch up before you can flash the Softbank unit. And this may take a month or two, depending on the unit from Softbank. So far none of my friends have any problems with the Softbank/ 838Pros they got from Japan.Come to think of it, I wonder how much are they being sold at the island down south.
