Hi Afdzan, The repair issue was one of the issues we discussed among my friends who bought it from Japan. I guess buying it frm overseas has its pros and cons. Pros being the price saving and cons being the support. But from our discussions about the 838pro and the Softbank model, we also realised that it was also cheaper in Hong Kong and Taiwan. We are quite puzzled as to why its being sold at twice the price in Malaysia. One of our speculation is that for every unit that it brought in, the price of another unit is factored in as well. So if a unit is faulty, they will give a replacement unit without question since the price of the 2nd unit is already factored into the initial price. But this is merely a hypothetical assumption as we are aware that some IT distributors are known to practise this. Another speculation is the tax structure towards PDA phones like this. Maybe they are subjected to a form or Tax like those 'luxury taxes' subjected to iPods. Hence increasing the price of the original handset. Anyway, back to the 838 Pro and the Softbank. Sometimes, the firmware of Softbank tend to be a version ahead frm the local 838 Pros. Hence you'll probably need to wait for the local firmware to catch up before you can flash the Softbank unit. And this may take a month or two, depending on the unit from Softbank. So far none of my friends have any problems with the Softbank/ 838Pros they got from Japan. Come to think of it, I wonder how much are they being sold at the island down south. He he he. Cheers.
