When i was there,i was interviewed by that noisy standby manbai commentator when i said our malaysian drivers might not win the D1 All Stars.
I must retract my comment.Tengku Djan is a gem!
Perfect clipping point accuracy, super committed driving.Heck i was convinced he wasnt giving 100% on the earlier stage runs!
However,I hope they (organisers) would charge a nominal fee to enter and watch D1 so they could provide us with better service and at list,a place to sit down and enjoy watching.
In Japan (as far as i can remember,Ebisu has this too)
They have a series of purposely built spectator seats with that high rise style.Would love to have those in D1 soon.At list everybody can get a piece of the pie and not pushing, breathing down each others neck or worst, get hit by a ciggarette they're smoking
(who's reading this and did it to me,BAH!)
Special mention to Zero Lim for being a crowd favourite. He's very sporting when he wind down his windows and greet the spectators.Somehow it made us feel like we knew him personally.agree?
The spectator stands were on the cards.. but cost of building and/or renting, transporting, storing the elevated style seating would render the event over-budget... and at the moment there isnt a proper venue where the organisers can have crowd-control for a ticketing event... plus D1GP is new here in Malaysia... free entry at the moment to help raise awareness of the sport of drifting... as the event gets bigger n better, with more entertainment n proper seating may see it being a ticketing event... till then... bear with us and enjoy!
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT CAME on the 1st of JULY... congrats to all the competitors, big thanks to the spectators, organizing team and marshallls....
see u all in PENANG on the 12th of August!!
