Did you enjoyed the video above? That's exactly what I want to build, a RB26DETT powered Nissan Fairlady Z31. This is week 17 of our project and we are approaching some long holidays ahead. Since there is nothing much I can post about our project car, lets assess what has been done so far in the project.

So our original goal was to create a super car beater at RM50,000. Why did we had a goal at that amount? Well, usually at RM50,000, we could buy a decent 4 door, 5 seater car for that price, although it will be pretty tight for the passengers at the back. So what can you buy for RM50,000. There are a few choices in the market, namely the Proton Saga, Proton Persona, Perodua Viva, Perodua Myvi, Suzuki Alto, Hyundai i10 and several offerings out there.
Sadly most of these cars are bread and butter cars, offering a very puny engine, up to 1.6 litres and a top horsepower of roughly 110hp. That's about RM455 per hp in a new car. The only accolade I could mention about these cars is that they have the most basic safety features ABS and a pair of airbags. Compare it to our project Z, we intend to squeeze 400hp or more from the RB26DETT engine that we will put in the car. This should be about RM125 per hp in our car. With all common sense, owning an old car and rebuilding it seems like a more logical way to go. Plus, you don't have to worry anything about voiding your warranty, should you want to do more modifications to your car.
So how much have we spent now, have we broke the bank? Well, here's a breakdown of the costs so far:
Cost of Z31 purchase - RM10,000
Cost of towing costs - RM500
Fuel tank leaking costs and various engine fix on the RB20DET - RM900
Pilot lamps and interior lamps - RM300
Nissan Skyline GT-R RB26DETT engine - RM2800
Nissan Skyline GT-R RB26DETT gearbox - RM500
So far the costs sums up to be RM15,000. We still have RM35,000 of the budget to spend on the car in theory, so we haven't broke the bank.
So how could you help us achieve our goals? Well feel free to donate to our donation box. This would be one of the most iconic builds we will ever have on Zerotohundred.com . It will be one rag to riches story, where a very old car is built, resurrected and given a new power plant. This would be as epic as those projects you see on TV, but this is purely built by Malaysians to the showcase to the Malaysian crowds we can do it!
The donations can be in minimum denominations of RM50 and we will acknowledge your name (either in your forum username or full name). We will continuously update the donors list week by week, whenever there is one. Please email me at [email protected] if you have made your donations.

As I am only using my CIMB account to receive money from my employer, my Maybank account has been pretty much dormant. It currently holds about RM104.18 in funds in the account. So any donations would be noted down in my mini statement.

Please do your part in helping us realise our dreams. I hope the Nissan Fairlady 200ZG Z31 will complete hopefully by end of the year, so we can participate this car in the upcoming races. We also look forward to participate in the MSS Classic car challenge, which allows cars 25 years or older to participate. This car will turn exactly 25 years next year, so it would be a great way to celebrate its birthday.
The money donated would be used to purchase neccesary items to complete the build. At the moment, we look into finding a Nissan RB26DETT engine that costs RM2,800. This engine is incomplete and needs a flywheel, coil and an ECU. The wiring harness is present. The turbines are gone though. So if you think you donate either in cash money or parts donation, we will be very willing to take it. I intend to label every part you donate with LabelMe stickers so that every part donated will be credited. Thank you for your support.
On the site note, the Opening ceremony for Top Secret Performance has been postponed from 27th August 2011 to 17th September 2011, please take note! Thanks
