I'm shooting in the dark here. Car in question is the Honda Accord CM 4/5 ( model year 2004 - 2005 ). It seems that there is not a correct place to fit a 2 DIN head unit ( touchscreen DVD / CD / tuner unit ).

Here's a link to a sample pic of how the Accord interior looks like : http://www.asianauto.com/viewpic.php?op=view&type=carmonth&id=65

The LCD in the pic works for both the stock CD / tuner and the aircond system. While the storage area near the shifter have a cover ( push the cover and it pop / slide out ), but I do not think that's a good place to fit the 2 DIN, as there is no point to put it there and rear passangers cannot view the screen, due to the shifter blocking the screen. Even the front passanger will have a hard time to watch the screen due to the extremely low position.

I've thought about using a motorised single DIN HU unit, but if I place it at the covered storage are, will the motorised screen can come out to the correct angle? Being able to keep the cover is a bonus too.

Customising the current CD / tuner in the Accord will not be a problem, but how about the aircond controls then? The screen is used for the aircond controls too.

How can I overcome this problem? Intention is only to have a single screen + single HU, Don't want to fit those on the headrest or sunscreen.

not much of a solution there for you. its a common problem with more and more new cars having designs like this making it difficult for aftermarket players. the lower pocket is the usual place to add on CD players, but for your case, u are right, not suitable for dvd/monitor as gear lever gets in the way.

how bout custom make one port for dvd hu on the middle of the dashboard? similar to those on dhaihatsu move center console..

Thanks for the answers and suggestion Rosen + kelvin---.

I've got another look at the car today. Seems like the storage area near the shifter, have the possibility of me fittng a single DIN entertainment head unit ( the ones with motorised screens ). But I'll have to customise it a bit, as there are no bracketing inside the storage area. I believe if it's done properly, I can still keep the cover intact.

If you guys manage to see the car's storage area up close and personal, maybe u guys can give me a suggestion too. Thanks!

there's no problem doing a custom job to fit a bracket for the HU in there, quite a few have done it before, and if not mistaken there a kit u can import also for that if u dont want to do the custom wood & fiber way.

Wah, didn't know there's an import kit. Available locally? Taiwan, HK or US mari? Thanks for the heads - up Rosen, will Google it out!

i think its US mari, from Scosche, try reading the other local ice forums they have a thread for accords/civic/city about this topic. gr8tunes.net, mycarhifi.com and icehifi.com

Learned a bit from US Accord forums, seems like the kit they sell there, I'm not sure whether it's Scosche or Crutchfield, have some problems in colour - matching the dashboard, and others ( interfering the aircond system etc ).

I'll search around the local forums, most prolly I think its down to the lower covered cubbyhole + custom install. Thanks for your help Rosen, greatly appreciated.

no prob....

anyway, was thinkin about it, it would still be hard to put a single din dvd player with motorised monitor in there as the monitor would still hit the gear lever on its way in/out. i guess u can only fit in a single din dvd player without monitor and use other external monitors. like a small fold down screen for rear passengers in place of your dome light. and for front u can get this rear view mirror replacement that has an inbuilt small monitor inside. very stealth..
