Also, make sure you change your fuel filter. That is another one which is often overlooked.On some used engines there is also the problem of a stuck or leaky fuel pressure regulator - try swapping or better still get an after market replacement WITH a pressure gauge. RB20DE/DETs run 36psi at idle and 43psi with the vac hose unplugged. Check on this.... As for the leaky boost, you can always spot this one - your car will be running excessively rich and the power delivery will be erratic.... once the MAF meters the intake air, the appropriate fuel is injected. If there is a leak, some of that air escapes and the result is a rich fuel mixture. Sometimes you might even get leaky blowoffs.... bloddy rotten problem there really!AS far as the idle is concerned, the main things that you wanna look at are the IACV and the Air Regulator. If you've just got a used engine, remove the IACV and clean the bugger with some engine degreaser. Also when you remove it, ensure that the spring is closing the plunger all the way. The Air Regulators also tend to get clogged with oil/air mist sometimes so that's worth a quick check too. If your mechanic has any of these lying around then do a swap and see if it makes a diff. Oh and when buying a replacment IACV or Air Regulator take a sample with you since these things have different sockets for different generations of the same engine!Good luck!Ugh... all this sounds way too familiar....</blockquote>
