It's the lifeline of the economy. Over the years MOPB has invested huge amount of research into it and got quite outstanding results. It has already beaten other competing oils in terms of yields and quality. The efforts to undermine our palm oil industry from the competing oils is understandable. However they have only one single issue to discredit palm oil that's the environmental destruction on the rainforest.</p><p></p><p>No doubt the deforestation and burning are real. As cbsteh pointed out Malaysia has only that much land size available and starts to saturate. But oil palm is a sustainable crop. The immediate concern is to stop the burning method of land clearing and the haze </p><p></p><p>While the forest litter will attract bugs like Rhino beetles, there are some natural ways to counter and control this pest. for example its natural enemy like birds.</p><p></p><p>Orangutans? I don't believe they have more concern than own pocket. It's just a pawn. Don't they also concern about world food sustainability and hunger?</p><p></p><p>Every toxin has its antidote. Just see how strong the will of the people concerned to do it the right way.</p><p></p><p>Just my ccurrent thoughts.</p></blockquote><p></p>
