There are many with differing views but most have come to realise Oil "Technology" has significantly improved. I use to preach the same idea of only running mineral back in the day (as that was what i picked up online) but nowadays i prefer running semi-synthetic as its clean and leaves not deposits. My most recent experience was during breakdown of engine (4k km) and i had only been running semi syn and premixing with 2T. The engine aside from its obvious problems (oil seals) was in perfect condition. There was hardly any deposits on the rotor or housings. It could be argued that the mileage was low but i had done 3 oil changes. Another reason i like semi-syn is because i see a slight reduction in oil temps when gunning the car. </p><p></p><p>Like Boony has said earlier, choose what you like depending on your application. Boony's advice on oil weights is in line with what many racers do. Try out what is in the market and stick with what you like best. </p><p></p><p>On a side note - what water and oil temps do rx8 owners see? Town Driving(Traffic), Highway and on Track? I appreciate the info.</p></blockquote><p></p>
