Smell From Engine To My Car

I have a problem with my proton saga 2.
The smell from engine go into my car when I drive.
I check my air cond and service it, even I have close the cooling system . So the air from engine will not come in.
However, the smell still there, especially when I drive balik kampung. Cannot tahan all the petrol /ekzos gas/smell come into my car.
Anyone have the experience, and pls introduce anyone can solve this problem?

try checking the gap might be at your boot, especially the the spare tyre compartment.

The person to solve your problem probably be a CAR WORKSHOP MECHANIC.

Proton Persona has them. Read them somewhere it is normal.
I'm driving it as well. Smells when I rev it hard.

Cannot be brother, if you smell exhaust. Exhaust got Car Monoxide and is poisonous...

Mine is not exhaust. I burn. Unlike petrol and diesel smell.

Carson, you mean outside smell come into the cabin?. I believe you drive a BLM right? if so then is because your blower there don't have a paper filter. Try to open your glove box and you see a cassette type slot that you can open out. inside you will see a mesh....that's where you can put a paper filter. The paper filter will provide better filtration of the air. If you can try to look for those charcoal filter and put inside. This might help reduce the smell....

Try to open your glove box and you see a cassette type slot that you can open out. inside you will see a mesh....that's where you can put a paper filter. The paper filter will provide better filtration of the air. If you can try to look for those charcoal filter and put inside. This might help reduce the smell....

If not wrong, only have internal one....I think persona also same area at glove box there... Try open and take out the wire mesh and see...very dirty one....but can wash....you can get the paper filter from spare part shop....

I washed it 3 times. Blower cleaned it as well.
Some silicone spray for the motor there to reduce friction noises.
But will paper filter slow down the air flow? Because this plastic one like no filter, only for bigger rubbish.

so, this is the reason why outside smell always went into my wife saga..she' been complaining since a long time ago about this. i send d car to aircon shop, they oso dunno d problem.

There is a lot of reason why car can smell bad funny or....

1-make sure you are smelling the right thing, distinguished them between bad odor, or exhaust fume, unburnt petrol or something rubber smell... or you know what...
2- area to look for immediate suspect,
for eg,
A- bad fuel cap, you be really suprise what a faulty fuel cap will make all these go away.

B- broken exhaust, or leaking manifold, if the hole is visible, then for sure you can fix straight away, but there is common problem
where the leak is minor and only will leak when is hot, where is under expand and contract when is cold, which where less experience
foreman will not account this to the checking .

C-if the petrol smell continue strong, check also for leak tank or leak fuel line.. oh yes... nowdays car all come with plastic poly fuel
tank and feeder which will crack if bump hard.

D- it can be also just as simple as mold issue, if is other smell than petrol

E- if there is still burning smell .. it can be also something is wearing off as A rubbing B off, such as clutch slipping, gear wearing and
etc...

Its an AC paper filter, it might block some air flow but won't cause any problem. Below is videos on where is the blower filter location and how it looks like when it came without filter and how to add in filter. This is for BLM, FL and FLX not sure if Persona is the same but it should be close.

Air con suppose to recirculate the cabin air as to get it cold....

i think smell from outside is it... you have to close the button... hardly.. sometimes I put paper into it... in flow the dirty air from outside
