I have a used unit of SS Reference 500s old school amp which is famous for its unregulated pulse-width modulated power supply. The amp is rated at 12 volts but is designed to take advantage of the additional voltage available when the vehicle is running. The 2 major advantages are : awesome dynamic power capabilities & added continuous power with higher voltages. For example @ 4 ohm power :
