[QUOTE="headache, post: 1377695, member: 391"] Vehicle Accidents and Recalls Accident Investigation VOSA conduct Roadworthiness inspections on vehicles involved in accidents where it is suspected that there may have been a contributory mechanical defect. This enables us to further investigate reports of alleged safety defects in vehicles and components. In the case of serious recurring safety faults, manufacturers conduct a recall under the code of practice for vehicle safety defects that is administered and supervised by VOSA. Vehicle Safety Recalls The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) supervises the recall of vehicles with safety defects throughout the United Kingdom. A safety defect is a feature of design or construction liable to cause significant risk of personal injury or death. The aim of VOSA, the manufacturers and the trade associations, is to ensure the rate of response to a recall is as high as possible. In an effort to improve safety, the recall information is made as widely available as possible. The current recall level is estimated at around 85%, with VOSA and the trade associations aspiring to reach 90% by the year 2005. Vehicle Recalls Database This database records all UK recalls from manufacturers. If a manufacturer has reason to recall a vehicle it will contact VOSA who then assign it a unique recall number, which is also transmitted to the DVLA should the manufacturer need the vehicle keeper information. No information given in the database can be used for advertising purposes Page : Page 1 of 1 Results Found : 12 search results Criteria : (PROTON All Models) ordered on rec_launch_date for the date range 01/1/1992 to 01/12/2006 Information : Click on the recalls number to expand the detail and hover over the concern for a quick insight into the defect Please note that certain recalls have the same reference number, but relate to different models/variants of the same manufacturer/vehicle. # Launch Date Recalls Number Make Model(s) Concern VIN Start VIN End Build Start Build End 1 30/07/1993 R/1993/042 PROTON 1.5 SE Aeroback possible detachment of tailgate support struts 416761 - 488960 2 22/04/1996 R/1996/046 PROTON Persona (3, 4 & 5 Door) leakage from fuel tank 007100 to 007385 3 03/11/1997 R/1997/079 PROTON Persona models loss of braking vacuum assistance 002730 to 130144 01/07/1997 31/08/1997 4 17/09/1998 R/1998/077 PROTON Persona and Compact 1.3 and 1.5 derivatives fitted with steel 13 inch wheels possible loss of tyre air pressure PL1C96LNRVB136000 to PL1C97SNRWB185164 01/08/1997 31/08/1998 5 17/09/1998 R/1998/077 PROTON Persona and Compact 1.3 and 1.5 derivatives fitted with steel 13 inch wheels possible loss of tyre air pressure 01/08/1997 31/08/1998 6 01/05/2001 R/2001/057 PROTON All models starter motor relay To be advised 7 01/05/2001 R/2001/057 PROTON All models starter motor relay 8 01/05/2001 R/2001/057 PROTON All models starter motor relay 9 17/10/2001 R/2001/134 PROTON Satria Gti suspension stabiliser bar may break Various 10 29/07/2004 R/2004/125 PROTON WIRA AND SATIRA 1.5 MANUAL possible loss of engine power B5964420000000000 B8594610000000000 11 29/07/2004 R/2004/125 PROTON WIRA AND SATIRA 1.5 MANUAL possible loss of engine power B04374B0000000000 B0607770000000000 12 09/06/2005 R/2005/075 PROTON GEN-2 battery harness tie band needs rerouting Source: http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/search.asp The above is UK.
