The New Waja

Like acbc said, firstly, Proton may have jacked up the price to get their ROI in the quickest time possible. Secondly, the deals with Mitsubishi really are crap in which Proton have to pay through their noses for using Mitsubishi technology...no fault of Mitsubishi's but the incompetent idiot from Proton who did the deal with Mitsubishi. Thirdly, problems with subcons not being able to deliver quality parts at competitive prices due to not having the economy of scale or generally fucking around and not doing a good job. Of course, there is also the question of did Proton actually give the job to the most deserving and the most competitive subcon instead of someone they "prefer". Too many problems, too many questions, all a case of crap management and politics.

Parts supplier also under pressure by the insane prices given by Proton. I believe Proton squeeze them too tight until the quality suffer.

Or, someone is making money out of Proton coffers... let's say an item costs RM 50 to make from Supplier A. Someone take RM 20 as cut n go to Supplier B who can supply at RM 30 albeit lower quality parts. So, in the end, who suffer? We as consumers la!

But for export model... they not worried of parts cost because after exchange rates, mark up RM 20 on top of RM 50 = RM 70 n still make profit. As a result, export models have better parts from Supplier A.

That's abnormal? Not in Proton's books. The Saga and its derivative have been around since Rameses II. And the Wira and its derivatives have been around so long that Richard the Lionheart used it in one of his Crusades.

maybe i used the wrong word.

proton's waja is ONLY 6 years old. expect its service to be extended for another 14 years... he he

Fake man... it's true that Proton did not produce any new models over the last 20 years (apart from Waja, Gen2, Savvy, Arena, Tiara & Juara) but I'm sure the first model of the Saga is plain UGLY when compared to the new SE model.

No, it's not! My mum used to owned one back in 1989... we had to sell off the Ford Telstar 1.8 which I objected because I love the digital meter console! Can't find any car with this feature these days...

After 8 months, we sold the Saga away... too many problems! The replacement was a Mitsubishi Galant Super Saloon which I still drove to this day).

problematic it maybe, but in 1985 saga was head and shoulder with Nissan 130Y and toyota Corolla LE in terms of looks. not bad at all.

i have to agree with you, E33 galant is nice to drive even with today's standards. good for you to owning one!!
