heres a simple question....correct me if im wrong...say an amp claims that it can produce 250 watts with 2 channel...it can surely support two 125 watts mids right?therefore ensuring the speakers produce the best sound it can produce(assuming the amp and the mids are original nakamichi)

secondly...say an ayam brand amp claiming it produces 800watts used to bantai two cap ayam mids with 450watts(450x2=900)....not saying it produces a nice sound...but the question is izz the power of the amp sufficient enough to pukul them mids...meaning that can the earlier mentioned 250watts nakamichi amps bantai a 450watts cam ayam speaker and produces sufficient sound according to its capacitiy?

all i need to know is.....what is the rule of thumb when buying speakers and amps...so that it will be a good match...not lacking of power,no pecah sound so on n so fourth

1) 1st rule is to look at RMS (continuous power) ratings, rather than peak/max (PMPO) ratings normally printed on cheap amps and packaging. Most budget/low end amps with a modest RMS rating of 40w x 2 / 50w x 2 / 50w x 4 etc. will outperform any cap kambing amp with a big 900w or 1000w printed on it.

2) Secondly, a simple way to 'check' if a cap kambing amp is rated as it stated is to look at the fuse size/rating. For example, a 50w x 2 amp should use a 15-20A fuse, 50w x 4 (30-50A) 100w x 2 amp (30-40A) and 100w x 4 (60A-80A). If the amp you mention claims 250w x 2, by right it should use at least an 80-100A fuse.

3) There are other specification besides the power rating. Most amp are rated at 13.8 volts, but some like Precision Power is under-rated at 12V and some over-rated at 14.4 volts. Typically, a healthy car runs at 13.8-14.2 volts. Therefore, the under-rated amplifier will give you more power than its rated power. If you observe closely, some cheaper amp's rate the power at high THD (total harmonic distortion). Some even put 2 ohm (higher load) ratings so that you think the amplifier is powerful. Always look at typical ratings at
4) To be continued... have a meeting! haha
