did u manage to connect to the wifi at the cafe? U can see this by the network logo on the bottom right of ur screen beside the clock. It should show that connected and the connection speed such as 48mbps or etc. If there it shows Not connected, then click on wifi and search for wireless networks and upon seeing the wifi network available, double click on it to connect. Also ensure that the wifi access at the cafe does not require any encryption keys.

ok, then u have to check the settings on ur laptop. double click on on the flashing network icons on the bottom left of the screen and under the General Tab, look for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (u might have 2 sets for TCP/IP, one is for wireless and one is for wired. It should be stated there which is which, choose the wireless wan). Click on properties, and make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server automatically" are both checked. I presume that this cafe operates the router as DHCP and assigns IP to clients.

Majority of cafes have paid network... so u got to subscribe 1st.

Airzed - covers mostly shopping complexes and cafes
TMnet - covers business buildings and hotels (and some cafes)
Timezone - free service at Starbucks
Maxis - covers corporate areas

Very simple...

For Airzed, go to http://www.airzed.com

For TMnet Hotspot, go to http://isp.tm.net.my

For Maxis Utopia, go to http://www.maxis.net.my or http://www.maxis.com.my

For Time, it's free. Just visit any Starbucks around D'sara or Mont' Kiara or Genting Highlands.

If u happen to be at Genting and saw a guy surfing the Internet via WiFi wearing only shirt n shorts n sitting outside, that could be me.

nowadays everything seems to be more flexible and easy.. what do u need is just order a cup of tea/coffee & online till u happy.. :)
