You can use universal AC-DC adapter to power up the console following below spec,
Power rating : DC10V 850mA * (console's official power rating)
Polarity switch must be set to "-ve center tip".
Set voltage to 9V.
You can buy universal power adapter at hardware shop...pretty easy to get one. Typical 1000mA power adapter is like one below,
*Important: If you can't find power adapter with 850mA current rating, go for adapter with 1000mA/1A instead.
Super Famicom (unlike Famicom), won't power up properly if you use the typical 500mA universal power adapter.

Some info to note:
Japan uses the same cartridge shape as PAL region SNES/SFC (European/Australia), but in NTSC format.
So you can actually play USA games on Japan consoles by unscrewing the cart and simply putting the chip into a cart of the correct shape to fit (no soldering or anything, just open the cart, take it out, open the replacement one, fit it in, and screw it shut).
