As any auto enthusiasts will agree, there’s no closing on a good build thread posted on a forum. We just love a good build thread, there’s so much to learn and pick up about the car or project being undertook.

While there’s no denying that we’ve all come across some nice build threads while browsing through forums, this one here has got to take the cake as not only the most detailed and informative build thread ever, but also the finished product itself is just light years ahead of anything that we could whip up in our backyard.

Flicked from the Lancer Register UK, the thread here shows the build of forum member clivew as he fully strips and rebuilds his Evo almost entirely in his own backyard, in a work area that he built himself as well to work on his car. Talk about taking DIY to another level.

Sure you may argue that quite a number of petrol heads can rebuild an engine on their own but as you can see from browing through the thread, clivew takes things to a level some of us can barely comprehend.

Not only does he do all the work, except for the engine mapping, rollcage and painting, by himself, he also totally redesigns or reengineers some of the drivetrain components such as the housing for the Evo’s AYC. Hell, he even installed the Varis carbon fiber roof on his own.

While we would love to go on and on about the car, we think it’s best if you browse through the thread on your own to really digest the amount of effort and time he must have put into the car.

Believe us when we say, this is probably the best build thread and final product ever. One more thing, don’t skimp on the browsing, make sure you browse through the entire thread, we guarantee you won’t regret it.

He basically thoguth of every single detail before assemble them back.
The one that really catches my attention...custom fuel cooler!

Thanks for the write-up. Read his thread a year or more back and was amazed at the level of thought that went into the project..

is the passion and determination that counts in this project...most would have give up...

wow, he even built the LSD case himself coz the standard one is not strong enough! I would like to do a build project like that before i die..

If money and time permits, surely I WILL do it. For now, I only have time for some small weekend DIY projects like making brackets, removing rust, fitting strut bars etc. :bawling: :bawling:

very awe-inspiring. read through the entire thread in 2 hours straight :)

g4i8, its ok even if its a small DIY...at least its a start right?

If any were to do that in Malaysia , I will salute using both of my hands .. There are many who rebuild in overseas country

Anyways , thumbs up to the Evo owner too

i've noticed he has an OCD. thats why he insists on perfection n details. he's one good OCD.. 2 thumbs uppp..
