May not be fake, but made in another country. Made in Malaysia Enkei may have just the word "Japan"
Only those rims that are Made in Japan have "Made in Japan" on it......

There are also original Enkei from Malaysia right?

how to differentiate between Japanese & Malaysian made Enkei rims?

Weight is one important factor when comparing ...
JDM rims usually have embossed "Made in Japan" too ...

I think all Japan Made rims have "Made in Japan" written on them.
Malaysian made or even made in other countries other then Japan, will have "Japan", "Japan Design", "Japan Technology", etc., but not "Made in Japan" unless fake.....

Nope, Japan Made rims are not lighter unless it is stated light weight rims. Even Malaysian made have light weight rims. It depends on the model.....

Agree on that. My previous 15" JDM P1 Kosei weights a hefty 7kg per piece!

Hi,

Me no expert.. but I did reserve a similar RPF 1 rim in Pg.. recently.. it looks kinda like tis :

http://www.performancealloys.com/images/products/wheels/600x600/RPF1Black.jpg
RPF1 ; but its 4 hole - 16incher

N from wat de dealer explained - there are several manufacturers of enkei rims , mainly from Malaysia ; Thailand and of cos the sort after one is from Japan..
N I tink [thru' myriad readings on tis rim n such ] there are various 'licensed' [ n I use de word.. litely] rim manufacturers who make tis design .. even from Taiwan so categorically all tis constitutes 'ori' too..
Which makes tis all too confusing..

I d check up on its weight .. if u can .. besides de box it comes in and tube head supplied, if possible .. tis is if new.. if pre owned .. well..

D

FYI

I think most of japan rims is like this. maybe...

Sorry, i should state it more clearly.
What i mean earlier was comparing apple to apple.
Hence in this case, comparing 'other' RPF1 to original JDM RPF1 ;)

I think should be the same as they should follow their production specs.....my 2 sens

does it mean RPF-1 also have other model under other country manufacturer with licence by enkei?...as i know RPF-1 only JDM and made in japan...as i know if they give license to other country mean they made another model and maybe similar only...like enkei RS japan and made in malaysia...

Truths about RPF1 by ixeo.

1. Enkei RPF1 are all Made in Japan (as of February 2012), if its not, its fake.
2. Enkei RPF1 only comes in four colors off the shelf, normal silver, satin black, gold or white. However in USA you can call Enkei USA to custom order colors. Not sure about Japan cause I can't read or speak sushi.
3. If its below RM2.5k brand new its fake.
4. There are NO OEM RPF1 except the AME/Kyoho Tracer, which is made by Enkei for Kyoho Corporation, which is also a sister company of Enkei. The design of the Tracer is slightly different at the spokes.
5. If new 15" Enkei RPF1 is sold together with Enkei hub caps, its fake, cause there is no 15" hub cap. Above 15" there is.
6. If the sticker for the "Enkei" word is a 1 piece sticker with transparent background, its fake -- or maybe fake sticker on real RPF1 (??)

Advice for RPF1 owners or would be owners, avoid pot holes like the plague! The RPF1 is really soft versus Malaysia's crappy roads. me and my 3 car buddies ride with RPF1 and all of us have experienced bengkok rim.. but its easily fixed.

I rocked original Volk TE37..but I am happier since replacing them with RPF1. never looked back.

If you means the outer rim edge getting dented, then could be due to the design also. The spokes reaches the inside of the rims only, so this design have an outer lip with no support. I used to have rims like that and yes, prone to getting them dented.
Nowadays I choose rims with spokes that reaches the end of the outer rim edges and no outer lip. I am now on the Advanti Racing using for 8 years already on 215/45R17 size tyres. So far so good, only getting a lot of scratches....:banghead:
Another thing is with spokes reaching the outer edges it looks bigger.....
Here is how it looks....
