Sport car for fresh grads

i admire your ambition bro, but things are not so easy in this world, at least in this part of the world called msia. fortunately there are other helpful bros to advise and encourage you against the pros n cons of getting a sports car.

being a "fresh grad" myself, having just joined the working force only 2+ years, i understand how you feel and i can totally relate to your dreams. initially i was very ambitious too, dreaming of owning a sports car (or, at least a "sporty" car) when i'm still studying. afterall, that's wat going on in a petrolhead right?

so long story short, i grad, got my first job, work my ass off and save save save $$ till i finally got enuf ammo to purchase a "sporty" car (neo cps). mind you, i save for almost 2yrs before i finally saved enuf for the d/p. alas, dream come true??

no, problem just started. this is a real world. unwanted things do happen, and it will happen when u least expect it. some of you bros here will recall how my new car got vandalised just weeks after taking delivery. and i spent a huge wad of cash to get it right.

then comes d interesting part. driving a sporty car means you let your heart drive. trust me, when you're driving a sports car, there's a voice inside you that will silently whisper to you in your ears: "floor the pedal", "do some burnout", there is a corner coming, try a powerslide"... and so on. all it translate to is money. more money for petrol, more money for tires, more money for everything. :bawling:

this is where my mistakes lie. i earn rm4xk++ pa, n yet i cant save a single cent. money all went to my car. well, that's the sacrifice of being a petrolhead, right?

do not be discouraged bro, you may have your own ideas. get your priorities right, talk to your parents, talk to your friends. they know what is best for you.

anyway, good luck in getting that sports car! do not let your dream die! :driver:

Hahaha...so now I'm fully realize with what is reality all about...thanks for your post...so it's true we need to "bersusah-susah dahulu, bersenang-senang kemudian", means that we must work hard first before we can enjoy our life...its make me more inspired to work more harder...tq! :driver:

agrh... i start feel the pressure again... deng...

What kind of pressure? :banghead:

bro keeltha,

been speeding too much eh? hahaha..

bro seng_song,

if you got the money, by all means, get the car you want. work hard, work smart, and rewards will come your way.

damn, i so cheung hei...

Cannot agree more with most of the advice above to work hard first and save as much money as you can rather than thinking of buying a sports car, especially with that kind of income! Think about saving money to buy a house, not just thinking about cars. Look at the skyrocketing prices of property now, and imagine how much would it be in another 5-10yrs! Sports cars are luxury items, and it needs commitment to own and maintain one, so only when you're RICH then you can have one or a few.
Take this advice from also another guy who also has been very much a fan of performance cars with my dream cars being the Evo IX and R34 GTR but yet to commit into buying one even after having enough money for so long already. Instead I'm still just driving a normal family car (Nissan Grand Livina), enough to get me to work and carry my family around during weekends while saving fuel (money). :driver:

n one more thing, nvr consider buying a car with personal loan, is not worth it. high interest. Based on ur salary at 2750/month, i think u wont get a personal loan up to 10k if not wrong, calculation based on 3 x of your monthly salary.

im also a fresh grad only out at the field for 2 years, currently im driving Alza with 17inch rims + all standard, all from my own pocket. Im proud to say this though im earning 40k p.a

Haha... i like this post so much.
All are about the money. Money is the only main issue.

So for now, just install the adjustable sport spring and set of "ekjos buluh" to ur Kenari... prengg!!..prengggg!!... at least u can enjoy the sporty feel in ur ride sooner than 5 yrs waiting...

:itsme: i'm just talking about myself..how sad!!

I find it absolutely impossible for a fresh grad to pay and maintain a sportscar.

....Unless maybe you could persuade some loving family members to chip in for a hefty downpayment. (eg. Try to persuade your mom to lend you some of her life savings)

*runs off after giving bad advice*

As for me the best part of owning a car is the modification process. There is less excitement of buying a car and drive it everyday of your life without going through of the modification process. Just imagine yourself of buying a ferrari but everyday just the same drive and back from work, there is lack of motivation for the ownership. Because the whole thing about modification is addictive. Such as test run, dyno, tracking etc.

Moral of the story, its not the price of the car it is concern, its what you will do with the car and make sure you can afford for modification process is more important. Cheers bro

We, As a Malaysian, obviously suffered enough  How I wish we could have a better government with no import tax and protection over their beloved "home made cars".

or get a galfren that has a rich father & psyco yr gf to ask her father to buy her a sports
car then u pakai lo...

aggreed. not to demotivate u but s facts u mentioned (i'v been there) i think patient & practicality (priority?) r things to consider. complete ur study with flying colors, the rest shall folow suit

Come out and work for at least 2 years, wait until financially stable then talk about car. Dream is dream and the one you need to face is reality. Don't end up with both money and car also don't have and need to struggle for few years in order to get back to the starting point. If parents rich then different story.

Like others said its nearly impossible for a freshgrad with RM2-3K/month to own a sports car in Malaysia unless u have been saving money since you were a kid
