What Type Of Detailer Are You? :-)

Got one in Manjalara but own by the Car Wash and Detailing shop owner...Kinda loaded. A Ferrari 458 Italia if not wrong, then Bumblebee
usually on display at their car wash and other cars I can't remember...

Saliva drips... Floor it and it goes heads up!

Ohhh, no wonder lar she never contact me back. Rupa-rupanya already go respray.

The job was indeed a whack job. I viewed her car and was surprised that it was so terribly done.

A re-paint might have been a good option as her car as moderate amount of deep scratches and also dents around.

Seech kor kor,
What bumblebee.....

Not only that. Paint on the bumper even started to crack I think due to crappy workmanship from re-spray shop. She haven't re spray, still gathering $$$ haha

Did it transform? :rofl::rofl:

Erm..I've seen her car before the detailing package she bought from Groupon. It is a second hand car thus the condition is like an average 7 years old car. But when I saw her car paint after the detailing session, it got worse instead of improving. Not only that the car doesn't shine, but with very visible damages done by a rotary machine. If not mistaken, some paint were burnt. One this for sure is burnt is the plastic holding the side mirror..they dint tape that section and whacked it just like that.

Wow.... as a DIY detailer I also

You DO mostly get what you pay for though.... I'm amazed at some of the prices that are offered for '3-step' polish and wax....

The 3 step polish and wax is the correct way. Wash, wax and collect money  3 steps wakakaka

Most people think that waxing or polishing a car is an easy task..they don't know that it requires dedication, patience, knowledge, experience, and many more to do it nicely. That's why it is called "detailing"!

My another friend once sent his sis's car to road side aneh for waxing. RM70 including wash and vacuum which isn't cheap. They just whack with cloth, elbow grease and soft99. My friend complained that they charge so expensive but use so cheap a product and not using machine to wax it. That just proved that how clouded a normal person is on detailing. I told him that he's lucky they applied the wax by hand.

Bro. seech, I have read of a few other complaints in other forum too about the groupon ones. Like shop ask customer to upgrade to other package, got the cheek to tell them low end one not good...ha!ha! If don't want then just do loh!
After that I took the trouble to read the fine prints of the groupon purchase. Yes, they do mention 3 steps including tar removal, clay, polish and wax but they did mention doing it like within one hour or so. So do they polish and wax at the same time?
Taking about this polish and wax, don't want to mention which SC, but my friend send his car for service thought SC is best place to do everything, so he got some wax from me to try, brought along and told personnel to use the wax. According to him he saw them pouring the polish and wax together on the pads at one go. Two steps in one?....:confused:

Yah! correct also 3 steps....ha! ha!

Like that, might as well you wash and wax and collect the RM70....

Polish and Wax at one go......

If i knew this method exists, then I won't be spending so much time on every car I do.....

Kasi compound + polish + sealant + wax one shot......

or heck, I will pour my compound + polish + sealant + wax into my car shampoo.

Within 20 minutes can siap siap kau tim everything while washing the car.

The thing is that these so called "detailers" are actually just polish/wax dudes. I won't even recognize them as detailers as a real detailer look into details. Not just kasi hentam run the machine around the car and expect it to be awesome.

Of late, the word Detailing has been misused by businesses. I remember few years back, these places are called Pusat Penjagaan Kereta or Pusat Mengilat Kereta. Now, most are using the terms like Car Spa, Car Detailing. These places commonly use a well establish brand in Malaysia to lure customers.

Which brings me to another point, with all the horror stories of coupon deals. What went wrong? They have the correct product, they have the manpower (albeit it is 5 banglas) and have the proper machinery (it is a rotary, even if it is made in china but it should at least deliver a decent result)

What went wrong..... mindset and knowledge.

Mindset: These businesses are in it for profit. They do not care what happens to your car. Their objective is to get as many cars in and out of their outlet.

Knowledge: While these businesses may have the correct products and tools, it does not mean that they can deliver proper results. Having a 20 year old running a rotary freely on your paint can cause major irreversible damage. Pads need to be washed often to ensure no contaminant is damaging the pad.

I wash my pad after every 2 panels max. Sometimes even to the point of washing the pad twice for one panel. Check out those detailing centers... pads are washed.... probably at the end of the day after they have run thru about 10 cars or more.... if it is even washed.

Like Master Seech said, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

This rant is to be continued.... now in office cannot type too long

Hahaha good idea wor...but I've already told him that next time if his sister wana polish or wax, come to my house and do it together. Save $$ and would not do so much damage on her car.

I've read somewhere that a car groupon car wash shop told the customer to do waxing as well as the package doesn't include waxing. Really wtf lol...of course the customer wanted to stick to the original package but the shop dude said that waxing is necessary in order to complete the package i.e. waxing before polishing...hahahah wtf lol. Actually I believe they do not even clay the surface before polishing. If not, how can they do it within an hour? Even if 3 mangala also cannot la..

You put Car SPA can charge premium price mah!....

Maybe competition, or like mentioned sell coupon cheap to bring you to the shop, then try to convince you with high package....

You are right though. Most of these deals are to lure in customers with very low prices and then advise...(force) them to upgrade to 'better' packages.

Most also proudly display big name detailing products on their banners, etc.... It's almost like by using the products it guarantees good results...

Yup, advertise with Branded products, what they use also we don't know....

Well...Shell Ferrari fuel want or not? Guarantee your Proton goes like a Ferrari and you drive like Alonso

Well seriously if you pay for discounted fare what do you expect? It's like taking the freakin AirAsia and expect service and comfort level of a Singapore Airlines or Emirates...it's just not happenin'! So why the surprise that you're experiencing third class salesmanship and pissed poor workmanship?

At least Air Asia states their services, facilities and even some pictures of their cabins. That isn't misleading. Most users expect what they will get already without any doubt. But when a car spaaaaaa tells us that they provide wash vacuum clay polish and then wax, but they only carry out wash ----> hop to wax without appropriate surface prep...that is fraud already and they can be sued! At least some road side car wash is even more honest. Don't you think so?

I mean if the shop can't carry out the services at the stated price, don't do it! It's cheating!

I really like your comment about road side car wash.... First time I have seen it put this way. I think you are absolutely right. At least you know what you are getting with a road side car wash..... And there is nothing misleading about their services.

Good one!

Even if you pay at high price you still get shitty job. Like you paid RM300 at a chinese restaurant thought you can eat good food but taste like crap. Dont tell me it never happen to you before. Well i do believe someone out there is exist. If you saw they market the groupon with Meguairs product, i can tell most of them are using the reconditioning cream D151. One step cut, polish and wax. Within 1hr they can finish with 2person. Agree? Even we have victim here from (Mazda black) who just got detailed by one of those groupon ended up go respray. :adore::adore: work is work. If your work is good then people will come back to you.
