pulsar is SR20DET.. there r one other option that u may register without all hanky panky n expensive coffee money.. go search for CA18DET with FF oriented. its a perfect fir for u12 bluebird n may not be a big problem for sentra since most of nissan FF almost the same mounting position. here some photos. hope this helps..
1. no need hanky panky or expensive coffee money from QG N16 to FF driven SR (be it any chassis) . been there and done that. I changed my original QG engine to SR16NEOVVL and then to SR20DET. Puspakom, JPJ and insurance all done by myself. No such thing as side money, side money or whatsoever. It is legal.
2. CA18DET is wayyyyyyy different from N16 chassis. It does not mean that if it is PnP to U12 chassis so it is not a big problem to N16 chassis. ( even among the U12 owners the will avoid at all cost converting to CA18DET ) I totally disagree on this. I would not advice you to go for CA18DET...its a HELL NO and a BIG NO. why:
- CA18DET is a very old engine bro, SR20DET is much newer. It is not easy to find CA18DET hcut... let alone a decent one. chances and luck is siding more on SR20DET.
- why go for CA18 1.8cc when you can go for SR20 2.0cc? Smaller displacement and smaller turbine vs bigger displacement vs bigger turbine. (both in OE cond)
- CA18 is driven by timing belt whereas SR20 is driven by timing chain. Less hassle in maintenance
- SR20DET is much2 easier to upgrade and maintain. parts are easier to find. be it from W10, W11,
U13, U12 except for N14 which is the PULSAR because its oil pump and water pump is not interchangeable between all other SR20DET from other chassis, BUT..eventhough not interchangeable it is still easier to find than the dinosaur aged CA18DET.
Until today, I never saw be it in time attack, drag, or whatsoever....a car powered by CA18DET. it's a total waste. this is not the 90s were talking.

I thought Pulsar is SR20DE instead of DET? Correct me if im wrong..
the famous PULSAR will always be referred to the PULSAR N14 Gtir. So it is SR20DET. (in Malaysia at least, don't know in other continents)
The rule of thumb is like that. Pulsar is just a name. chassis shows it. I think wikipedia explains this.
