Headlight bulbs modification.

Since HIDs are not really street legal, I have got a problem with my headlight low beam beams (not bright enough) and HIDs are out of the discussion. Have any one tried changing PIAA bulbs / Phillip bulbs?
Any recommendation ? I would prefer PIAA northern star white (4400k) but isit bright enough?
Any one tried it or even xtreme vision 100% or sylvania ultra? I am really lost cos of so many brand and reviews.
Please help , thanks. Currently still using my standard bulbs. Any thing that I can do with my fogs as well?:itsme:
 
frankly speaking.. both PIAA northern and southern white not worth it.
it will blow just around a year - at least for my case la.
 
Using Phillips Xtreme vision. Quite good imho. But after 2-3 years the bulbs dim a bit. Either that or my eyesight got worse.
 
it would be great if we could get a hold of an industrial light meter.....and measure the light from the standard light bulb, aftermarket light bulb, and the light emittance after "x" years of use...

and see if the aftermarket bulbs are really worth the money....and correct to its claims.
 
theres also the OSRAM Nightbreaker which have gotten pretty good reviews. some say even better than the philips
 
Currently Im using Philips X-treme Vision +130%, significant brighter than stock

How's the color is it slightly whiter (kelvin) or just the same as stock. Was thinking of having it a little bit whiter but not too white till (4400k) scare I can see in the rain.
BTW I couldnt find +130 on my socket yet. Have not arrived. Using HB4 so far only available is +100.
The guy told me to take PIAA cos the brightness is the same as +100% and is whiter.
Should i go for it?
 
Try the cheaper ones first.

Osram Nightbreaker is the cheapest here and it is light yellow but bright.
Philips Xtremevision is mid-range priced and it's still yellow but more towards white.
PIAA is just white. And quite expensive.

Btw, does your car support 100W bulbs? If not it'll melt the socket. Check with your mech to see if you need to install a relay kit.
 
JPJ boys are "attracted" and likely to stop cars with bright white light when they do their operasi at night.....
So, pandai-pandai when choosing bulbs...

1st. Is your windscreen comply with JPJ tinting regulation ? If NOT, change that first...

Increasing brightness of halogen bulb driving more cons than pros...
1. Make your alternator and battery work harder - short life span
2. Make your headlight reflector fading and lens crack - possible melting.

No often but alot ahbeng because violated above rules, and keep upgrading halogen, then when electrical, wiring can't support and bulb got burn they blame the brand no good etc...later upgrade to china HID which blinding opposite and surrounding vehicle + BRING DANGER to everyone on the road.....

My advice is ALWAYS trace the root cause from the most simpler item first.....

Surely bright enough. hahahaa...

Compared to 20-30 years ago. ppl could still drive safety with their puny headlamps....while some ppl today are still unsatisfacfied with the modern bulb. hmmm....

Yup, PIAA is more expensive compared to Philips xtreme , well osram nightbreaker has a good review but the color is less white then philips(no doubt itis still yellow but slightly whiter) I think I will use +130 instead or +100% instead of PIAA (4400k ) due to $$ and also JPJ kacau.

Then only upgrade my fog light to LED later for whiteness & extra brightness. What say you guys?OK?
BTW i dunt wanna disturb the wiring cos my car still with warranty. Adding relay or HID will void the warranty and I think better not mess around with 100watt..later can smell burn smell on the socket (cost $$ again )

So far I use branded 100w bulbs, the sockets are okay, But got use cheapo bulbs before and those melted my light sockets.....:banghead:

LED got two types. One is like HID and others with plenty of LED bulbs all over. The ones like HID type is also illegal, the bulbs type have no focus, just bright only.....:smokin:

play too much phone, eyes spoiled la....tv nowadays 60" is nothing compare our parent days 14" - 21" is so big already...

100w ...so far is it brighter compare to 55w ones (i mean is it a big different), dunt mind me asking what brand & model u r using for 100w. Kinda interested also.Hehe.
Just found out that Philips xtreme vision +130 dunt have for HB4/9006 socket. what a bump.!
 
Ppl nowdays drive damn blardy fast, and thought they drive in rally events.....So, they used damn bright bulbs....while the poor drivers at the opposite end are blinded.......
 
Am running Osram Night Break Unlimited and Philips Diamond Vision. Both serving well at the moment. No issue with authority.

Where did you place the Osram night breaker unlimited (is it yellow/white:kelvin?) and philips diamond.
Was there a before and after effect? did you see the differences on brightness during night drive?

Night Breaker is like Xtreme vision slightly below 4k kelvin, Diamond vision is 5k quite white already, so far lucky no stop by authority.....lol:rofl:
