What is your first car?

Well they were about 140ps in stock. Yeah decent power, the fastest in their class for Indonesia market back then. No unfortunately we did not get the 4G93T Lancer GSR, if got I would have surely bought it instead! That one was mostly for Australian market I think.

That Corona was the same class as Galant/Accord, so like a bigger Corolla. Corolla was more fun to drive coz smaller & lighter.

The equivalent of your Lancer back then in Malaysia will be the C99 Wira 1.8 then. However, C99 doesn't worth much compared to an original Lancer with 4G93 from Mitsubishi. :adore:

Hmm, those days large sedan cars like Galant/Accord is rather small unlike today. In fact, now all these mid size sedans like Civic, Corolla Altis today are even larger than them.

Some great early car memories here! So my first car was one of those old Italian cars from the beginning if this thread ..

Fiat 131 supermiafiori (2 litre, 5 speed) it had little 13 inch deep dish rims and was white with grey bumpers

I never had the money to buy the twin carb setup for it .. shame as they can be quite a good engine with some basic tuning

My 1st Gen Civic was tiny.......lol:biggrin:

Yeah that CB was my favorite, I loved it and the one I had was the last year edition with special different silver grey not available in any other years before, so felt kinda special and a bit rare. (further more, people mostly bought the SOHC 4G92 version for reasons like no need power la, no need to go fast la, traffic jams la bla bla bla2x). That car was the last one I sold off just before I came to MY in 2007, only accumulated 90k km since 96, all tip top in original condition just with Enkei RS 15' rims, APEX sport springs, and some audio upgrade. It was sold in just less than a week to a member in the Mitsu owners club also. Lots of memories with it, teasing bigger cars etc2, I miss that car...

Yeah of course, cars now are getting bigger and bigger every time.

Hey, this is the Fiat model that I mentioned earlier on this thread. The two models that I often saw near my house. I saw one of it again today and remembered the model name. It is a 131 1.6 litre model. The one I saw today is in silver while the other one is red. Wonder how much these cars are worth now...

Like the size of Axia.

What is the lowest spec engine option for CB Lancer over there? 4G13/4G15 as well?

If you have AP, you can probably get more value from the car if you sold it in Malaysia. If so the next thing you know is, the new owner in Malaysia probably will do a full Evo 1/2/3 convert to it.

Persona going smaller...

I think Persona had sort of changed its category. By name it is called Persona, but in reality it is just an Iriz sedan. Like old Mitsubishi Mirage and the current eco car Mirage. Related by name only...

1st car my parents got for me was a 08 saga lmst, after working for a while i bought myself an old junk 95 mitsu~~ yay for downgrades

The lowest engine option was the 1.5ltr 4G15 SOHC carb.
Back in Jakarta also got a few who had also converted it to full Evo III AWD. Some just did BOT.

Is it easy to transplant engine over there? Or they all these nonsense regulations like JPJ over here? 4WD is like totally illegal over here.

Very easy to get around all those regulations over there. We actually don't need to bring the actual car for inspection! As long as we can just provide engine and chassis number using a special paper/form that they require then that's it, the car stays legal and you'd just continue to renew the road tax as the original car even though it's actually already converted using something else. So usually those who swap engines just keep the original block stored for that purpose even if the block is already blown.

Last time here also no need. Just show original custom paper go JPJ with geran, they will endorse. Now must go through Puspakom (make RM for some cronies) that is why more difficult, more problem, more RM used....:banghead:

Looks like rules and regulations are not strictly enforced in Indonesia. Good for those who like to mod cars but probably bad when it comes to other matters.

So, welding and cutting the chassis is also legal then? Because if you are doing 4WD conversion from FWD, a lot of welding needs to be done to the floorpan to accommodate the 4WD shaft and rear differential.

And we have this nonsense of not exceeding 25% capacity of the original engine displacement... But I don't know how people are still doing K20A swap into old EG or EK. I thought those original engines are like 1.5 or 1.6 litre... Yet, they can do it...

few points ya, some cars wana convert dont even need to modify the floorplan.... its just not allowed here...

k20 eg/ek still within the 25% ruling mah, 1.6*1.25=2000 ngam ngam muat... its just protons other than perdanas and inspiras which are not allowed to do so. One thing that confuses me is jpj does not allow you to modify the mountings (if im not wrong) a b>k series conversion completely rotates the engine and uses custom mounts.... why allowed pulak(i think most here use the hasport mounts)

ohh yeah, i think there is a rulling that allows one to go over 25%, theres a form for these conversions. (otherwise ppl with 1.8 bmw's cannot convert to the 6 potter 2.5 models easily)

My first car is my current car. Old faithful satria. No money to buy impreza, evo, skyline, all the vtec2 hatches. Not willing to see car thieves "borrowing" them without my permission too...:biggrin::biggrin:

Well since we don't need to bring the car for real physical inspection, so yeah anything can be done.

Thanks for all these info. Learned something new from you today.

Since you talk about mounting, even for Perdana engine swap, you need to mod the mountings as well isn't it. Like for Perdana SEI 4G63 SOHC to V6 6A12 or from Perdana V6 6A12 to 4G63T.

What surprises me is all of a sudden, you said there is a form to go over 25%. If so, what's with the 25% rule in the first place. :banghead: Or perhaps a certain amount of fees is needed to get this special form.

Woah, senior member like you also suddenly join in this thread. Just 30 post since 2010 but made an appearance here, hahaha.

It sounds like America where people just mod and swap engines crazily as they wish. They'll try to plonk in a V8 into whatever random cars from what I saw before at youtube. Always the typical "V8 Swap".
