Weird substance inside radiator

I want to ask, if it is indeed a leak from gasket, is it still okay to drive the car or should I leave the car until it is fixed? I still have another car to use.

to be honest, am not very sure, i would still probably say its safe to use if its minor BUT suggest you keep an eye on the fluids and the temps (heck you have been driving like this for god knows how long already.... ) Its a whole dif story if the water mixing into your oil, if that is happening i would send it in asap.... water isnt really the best at lubricating stuff in your car hehe

Just touch it, does it feel slippery like oil coz yeah it looks like it in your last photos. If really engine oil, then check your engine oil thru the dipstick, is it still in good condition or already got water mixture there? Anyway if oil already got into your cooling system, then surely you at least need to to top OH. So when you need to do top OH, then prepare to also spend on other stuff not necessarily just fixing the leak coz once you open it up, you might find other parts which are already also not in so good condition and might as well replace them all together in this one exercise. So prepare to spend some money on it. That is unless you're planning to sell the car. So need to make a decision if to still use it for long time or time to change car already coz that will determine how much is still worth it to spend on that car.

It looks like I'll be leaving my car at home for now. Will be driving Myvi until this is fixed. Family strongly discouraged me to drive the car down to Kampar from Ipoh which is 40km away. Said better not drive too far later might increase the damage to the engine or overheat it. I'll only be back on Ipoh on Wednesday evening. Will bring it to my mechanic for checking on Thursday morning.

I already noticed these dried up layer of oil thing for quite some time. But previously my temperature is fine no matter how I drive. It is only until 3 weeks ago where I noticed the temperature is higher which I got the radiator flushed. After a week later, temperature goes up slightly again but not as bad as before the flushing.

bro, do you smell the the coolant water ? don taste.
rub your finger, feel oily ?
i mention before, open oil filler cap. Look inside. look clean and no milky color ? Just to confirm.

Din't smell the water. I din't open the oil filler cap. As the car is not with me now, I'll check on that when I got back home on wednesday. But I did check on the dipstick and oil colour and level is still normal.

Today when I run the engine with the cap opened, I noticed that at first the water looks clear. As soon as the fan switches on, which I assume is the time when hot water flows back in from the engine, I noticed the top surface of the water looks oily. There is a thin layer there. But it was gone quickly as the water begins to flow down the radiator.

If it is oil why flaky?

Mixed with water?

Need to send for analysis dy.....

Thursday need send to mechanic and determine is it gasket oil leak. If it is, probably will leave it there and get it fixed.

If I want to do top overhaul, how long will it usually take? 4 to 5 days enough?

If, let's say the head gasket has some leakage, is it absolutely necessary to skim both the head and the block before installing a new head gasket?

Can, see your mechanic free or not only......hhahahhahahah

Hope he is. Because he is moving into a new place. Not sure done moving or not.

Prepare some money also...lol

Need pay my financiers back when started working next year.

He prepared to send for repairs dy, so sure prepared the RM also, or more correct got financier.....lol:biggrin:

Financier at home already restricted me from driving the car. Means must send it to fix already.

I'm not sure about this.

I think it depends. If gasket fault I think no need skim. skim too much timing/compression will be out/changed....:driver:

i think, to a certain extent, you can compensate for the skimming by using a gasket of a diferent thickness?? me not sure punya all this.... but yeah gasket only, no problem, just need to make sure its nice and flat je...

Do you all recommend me to get a top overhaul done? Since the cylinder head is already removed for gasket replacement. Will it be better to do it all at one go?

Hello, you mean your mechanic will just change the gasket? Sure have to de-carbonized mah! but maybe no need grind valve. But he should know better since he opening it up....lol

So, basically will do all the necessary maintenance and repair after opening up... Okay. I'll pay him a visit tomorrow and see if he is free or not. If not, another week of driving Myvi again... Now I start to realize how good Wira is.
