Haha i think in long run i saved more $ per hp with my E46. Probably not as hardcore as EVO but the E46's interior and comfort still pretty much worth my financial mistakes. I am preparing to upgrade the undercarriage with needed bushings and reinforcement bars to make the car easier to handle. And also looking into shiftkit and torque converter mods to make it bite more, but sacrifice on comfort at the sametime.
