Porsche's pinnacle mid-engined coupe and roadster lands in Malaysia via Sime Darby Auto Performance. The power pair pushes well over 400hp each, with both the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder being propelled by new, pure NA, 4.0L flat 6, matched with a 6 speed manual transmission taken from the previous GT4 and a dual mass flywheel from the GT3.

The 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder are essentially the same car, just differentiated by mood. One's flamboyant and the other's a fighter.

Their new 4L NA flat six is not borrowed from the GT3 as some might think. This engine is based on the current 992-gen 9A2EVO 3L flat six minus the twin turbos, and then hollowed out further to 3,995cc.

But to really make it sing to the sound of 8,000rpm, new cylinder heads were developed, as with the valves, pistons, conrods, and crankshaft. There's also a brand new intake manifold to top off the race-ready engine.

Yes, like the GT4 before it, this winged Cayman is pretty much a racecar made for the road. Even its front axle is almost completely 911 GT3, where it shares the same adaptive suspension and brakes. In this case, it runs on 380mm carbon ceramic discs and 6 pot calipers.

Being an all out extreme version of the 718, this also means everything from camber, toe, ride height, anti roll bar end links can be adjusted to suit a driver's preferred setup for the circuit.

To take it to the next level, any 718 Cayman GT4 owner can tick the Clubsport package to further prep it for the circuit. The Clubsport pack comes with a steel rear roll bar, a hand held fire extinguisher, and a driver's side six point seat belt harness.

Very nice cars. Good that Porsche still offers manual cars, unfortunately irrelevant for me.
