After reading several comments, I guess 195/50/R15 will be the best and easiest solution, just that it won't look too good as the tires are smaller than the stock 175/65/R14. Don't want to change my rims since I still like my Assetto Gara. :D

Yes can be expensive but that's the price to pay for choosing the wrong rims in the first place. That's why I keep telling people if want to buy rims, must first try it on the car with the tires so you can see how it will exactly fit.

Hi all, I am currently on 195/55/R15 (rim is 6.5jj width and 37mm offset, using Eibach Pro-Kit springs on stock absorbers which I get about 3 fingers gap for the rear. When there's no load behind then it is fine but if I carry just 1 person behind also I tend to hear some sort of sound from the rear when the road is uneven or very rough.
I know 195/55/R15 isn't exactly the ideal size but I like it for its balance of performance and comfort and also it fills up the fender area nicely.
What are the possible solutions for this apart from changing back to 195/50?
hello guys.. need your kind help.. i juz change my myvi rim to 15' sport rim (advanti) et35 7jj with 195/55/15 tyre size.. but my rear tyre hit the fender when full loaded or even when one person seat at the back at uneven road condition.. coz I juz bought the rim, Im planning to change the tyre size.. what min of tyre size can fit the rim which will not hit the fender when full loaded.. would like to try with 185/55 tyre but afraid it will still hit the fender and my money will gone as it was.. hope to get respond from u guys.. thanks..

problem is the rim offset, not the tyres. rim 15 x 7jj et41, 195/50 R15 won't hit even with 5 passengers.

With 15" rims and tyres you will probably not hit the suspension since it is fixed solid. You would probably hit the fender instead. Probably need a +35 offset rims or less to bring the rims and tyre out of the fender. If lowering probably use 195/50R15 to be safer. 195/55R15 will be taller and easier to scrap the fenderwow, this thread's been many years old already. curious if I wanna lower Myvi Icon 1.5 by an inch, & roll all fenders, what 15 inch rims can I run front & rear without hitting the suspension? I like the "stretched tyre rim poking out of fender slightly" kind of look, but main concern is hitting the suspension during dynamic load like cornering, htting portholes, carrying passengers etc.
I see. I thought I was gonna hit the suspension cuz right now on 185/60R14, protruding strut mounts & possibly sagged springs (unsure if sagged, but underdamp when going thru closely spaced red coloured speed bumps), I get roughly 39mm from tyre's sidewall to front suspension. so I thought even if I restore height to stock & lower by an inch, I'll lose lots of inner clearance. With 15" rims and tyres you will probably not hit the suspension since it is fixed solid. The suspension is fixed. The lower strut mount will move with the tyres as the springs compress.I see. i see. i thought lowering ride height produces negative camber & pushes the wheels closer to the suspension & dynamic situations during driving like cornering body rolls, accidentally go thru portholes & full steering lock eat up lots of inner clearance? thinking bout going 16x7.5j somewhere around et33-35 with 1 inch height drop, what do you think? The suspension is fixed. As long as when mounting the tyre it does not touch the suspension, you are safe.
For the front turn in and out clearance, as long as the tyre are not super wide, and rims offset does not make the wheel goes into the fender, there is no problem also. We are talking a mere 195 width only, not 245 or higher

Yes, lowering does create a negative camber depending on your suspension setup, but it is very minor only. Moreover if you are using a +35 offset your wheel will be coming out and there will be more clearance inside. And once the fitment is fixed, driving and going over potholes will not bend the tyres further in.i see. i thought lowering ride height produces negative camber & pushes the wheels closer to the suspension & dynamic situations during driving like cornering body rolls, accidentally go thru portholes & full steering lock eat up lots of inner clearance? thinking bout going 16x7.5j somewhere around et33-35 with 1 inch height drop, what do you think?
ah alright! will roll fenders for sureYes, lowering does create a negative camber depending on your suspension setup, but it is very minor only. If you are going 16" your best tyre size is 205/45R16. Most common tyre size but nowadays getting less choices. This size is already 2.3% larger in diameter and 20mm wider over your original 185/60R14, therefore when fitting you should look at fender clearance rather than internal clearance. With ET+35 front steering turn should clear even with 205 width, again look at fender clearance since wheel will be further out...
