Established 1898.......Deuter with its 108 years of trading is the oldest outdoor brand still in existence. From as early as 1938, Deuter packs were being used by some of the toughest and most demanding of mountaineers who included Anderl Heckmair on the first ascent of the north face of the Eiger, Herman Buhl on his famous single handed ascent of Nana Parbat in 1953 and Peter Habeler, who in 1978, along with Reinhold Messer, completed the first ascent of Mt Everest without the use of supplementary oxygen. Deuter developed and patented the original Aircomfort system, which from its introduction in 1985, has become the most popular backpack ventilation system in the world.

This system keeps the packsack from coming in direct contact with the wearer's back. Moist air can freely escape through the three-sided ventilated system preventing heat build-up. Test results from Germany's Hohenstein Research Institute show that the Aircomfort system reduces perspiration up to 25%.
