Skyline 4-Pot Calipers and Rotors on an A32

great review Chris ... so how much does it cost in total? u got Lee to get it done rite?

chris, what we have to take off a little of the diameter of the rotor?

The attachment point of the calipers to the knuckle brings the calipers about 1mm closer to the rotor. So, the rotor will come in contact with the inner side of the caliper bracket. Hence, a simple solution will be to skim a little off the edge of the rotor thereby reducing the diameter of the rotor by 1 - 2 mm.

I'll post total costs...when I find out myself...

ic...now i understand...tot u say around rm1000 for everything...hehehe

The brake conversion is complete!

Basic findings :

a) R32 servo and master pump is un-necessary. The R32 appeared to be much too stiff.

b) After 10 years...it makes sense to change your servo pump. I finally put in an A33 servo and master pump. Works like a charm.

c) If your original servo and master pump is working fine, then all you need to do is fit the calipers, skim the R32 rotors a little, and take off a little bit of the diameter.

d) After the calipers go in, you WILL need to see if your rims will fit. Generally, the stock A32/33 rims will not do. A cheap alternative would be to go find a set of R32 GTR or GTS rims. Stock rims have an offset of +48 whereas R32 rims (also 16") have an offset of +30.

e) Deep dish rims will have to be tested for fit since the tyre protrudes out, the centrepoint of the tyre moves outwards. Hence, even a much reduced offset will not accomodate your new calipers.

f) Heavier or higher rated brake fluid is prescribed. Dot 4 at a minimum, and Dot 5.5...if your brake lines will take it.

I'll post pics after I have them painted...

May i know what brake hose you using ?

Ok guys...I'm looking for a set of R32 GTR or GTS rims as a quick temp solution. The spacer WILL NOT work at high speeds. You get too much vibration.

I have currently the 2 rear and 1 front piece of GTS rims. Destroyed one last year. These are 16" x 8.5" rear and 16" x 7.5" in front with a +30 offset. The GTR rims are 8" all round. If I find a set of GTS, then no probs...just that I will have a lot of spare rims... If I manage to get a set of GTR rims, then my config will be 16" x 8" in front, and 16" x 8.5" rear. The spare 7.5", will become scrap metal.

Anyone got any jalan, please let me know. The vibrations are irritating the hell out of me..

you should get a good spacer! Not the cheapos they normally sell in the Brothers shop.

Or the other option is to get different set of wheels, offset may have something to do with brake clearance, but the design of the spokes do play factors in clearance.

Heh...on wheel balancing puts a strain on the gearbox. I'm not sure exactly how much of a strain on an auto fwd, but definitely on a 4wd, it does somehow accelerate wear and tear.

Meanwhile, as my good friend Ong has gleefully announced, against all odds, I managed to find a set of R32GTR rims for a decent price. I did manage to find a heck of a lot of R32GTS rims at around RM 500 - RM 650, but there are quality differences between the two.

The most important difference is that GTR rims are forged alum, whereas GTS rims are just cast alloy. This is according to several sources including Kazuto-Garage in Klang where they still have a set of GTR rims for sale at RM 2k, which is much too ex, in my opinion, for a set of stock rims. I think Cgui could probably bring a newer set in for anyone at much below this price from Japan.

The rest of the differences are in their dimensions/specs :

GTR

16" x 8"JJ
Offset : +30

GTS

16" x 6.5"JJ
Offset : +40

Both sets of rims will clear the 4-pot calipers from either the R32 or the 300ZX...

Ok...I admit it...yours is bigger than mine...

But I KNOW how to use mine...
