Bought 4pcs GTI good condition pistons for BOT uses. Cleaned the pistons thoroughly with chemicals, but my mechanics told me the pistons CR still too high...

So, have to SELL it off

bro, can fit to 4g15?

No bro, 4G15 pistons bore is only 75.5mm. GTI is 81mm. So, cannot fit. And if you are thinking of increasing the capacity by boring.... Don;t ever try... Reducing the cylinder wall by anything more than 2mm will cause alot of future headache to your block.

Bro, there are 2 things...
1) Yes, the pistons can be used for MIVEC.
2) However, to be on the same side, U should be looking for GSR block due to the 4 built in oil squirters. 1 OS per cylinder for the piston crown cooling effect. May not be necessary, but definitely better. But stock GSR block is having low compression pistons.On a 1.8 block, with the same bore but longer stroke, the CR of your a 1.8 block will be higher compare to a short stroke ingine i.e. 1.6 block.

Somehow, MIVEC runs best effect on high CR and the gti pistons have lower compression ratio due to the flatter crown. And MIVEC pistons will seems to be too high compression ratio on a 1.8 block. I'm afraidcoombustion will take place before maximum compression caused by the heat generated during the compression process.

So, I think 1.8 DOHC /1.6SOHC pistons are suitable. But don;t know which one better. Cause both have lower compression ratio compare to MIVEC.

But most of the ppl hibrid MIVEC top on the GTI block and pistons. they seemed fine. But i am not too sure if having a 1.6SOHC pistons would be better.

I have another set 1.6 SOHC pistons taking out from my engine. But not too sure about the condition yet. Have to check after taken out.

But these pistons comfirm boleh pakai. Cause there are lots of ppl doing it already.
