Any Idea whether any web site is available to check the chassis numbers against the year of manufacture for a 350Z? As you know, importers always cheat, can be good in the sense that they declare a 05 car for 03 due to Kastam Duties.

Try the one above. Worked for me for models before 2005.
james, the first facelift actually started in 2005. The 2005 facelift 350z with manual transmission has the same rev-up VQ35DE engine as the 2006 versions, rated at 300bhp. 2007 is the second facelift with new VQ35HR engine with 306bhp.
pre-2005 and early 2005
manual/auto = VQ35DE 287bhp
late-2005 (first facelift = new exterior, interior, 5-spoke rims, projector headlights, LED rear lights, etc)
manual = VQ35DE rev-up 300bhp
auto = VQ35DE 287bhp
2006 (same as late 2005)
manual/auto = VQ35DE rev-up 300bhp
2007-2008 (second facelift = hump on hood)
manual/auto = VQ35HR 306bhp
That's as much as I know if my sources are correct. You can identify the rev-up engine by looking at the RPM red-line, it's higher than 6.5k.

That may justify the higher price tag. Also, version T doesn't come with Brembo so if you're after power and performance only, version S may be the one you seek.
I'm still waiting for my 2005 manual to arrive. Should be in 2 weeks.
On the other issue of HP for the 2002 model, bro, when you dynoed, the figures you got, are they on wheel HP or on crank HP.
For example in the case of the Dyno at GT Auto, it is on wheel HP.
I can show you a dyno chart of a RA R

Those figures are on wheel HP.
Manufacturers are quoting on crank HP, which is much higher than on wheel HP, typically you are looking at a 20% loss on drive train, for Auto's is even worse.
So based on your figure 253HP on wheel, you would be looking at 316HP on Crank which is even higher than the new 300 BHP Rev Up Motor. And if you are getting 280HP on wheel you would have
350HP on Crank (Awesome)
I hope that made your day
