bowie,
You should just get a Myvi in my opinion.
I too was looking for a fuel savvy car months back and my requirements are exactly the same as yours.
I travel about 60-80km/day. Couldnt afford to pay for my older car's consumption.
It costs me more than RM20/day.
I've only test driven the new Saga.
Well, power wise its okay for city use. Enough to fetch 4 adults comfortably. The only slack thing is the look of it. Its one hell of a freaking ugly design in stock form (no offence to Saga owners). That is the only thing thats holding me back from placing a deposit right then.
I did consider Persona as well but I don't think its consumption is good. Its using the same engine as the Waja if I'm not mistaken and I got reviews that its consumption is about RM75 for about 400km. Not too sure on this though.
Savvy is more fuel efficient compared to Myvi. BUT again, the looks. Love the AMT transmission. Interior is the same as the BLM i think. But again, I emphasize, the looks! You wouldn't want to be driving a ugly car everyday right? (No offence to Savvy owners). Disregard all the bodykit/add-ons for now.
Kelisa is way off. Its too damn small.
Sutera, never thought of it.
A week after the test drive, I decided to put a booking fees for a year 2009 production car since its about RM7k cheaper than the Myvi. Tried calling the salesman a few times and he didn't pick up. Left a voice message and didn't bother to get back to me. So I decided, ah what the heck, just get the Myvi then. Yeah I know there are other showrooms but...maybe its a sign that the Saga is not the right choice? :p
Placed a deposit for a year 2009 Myvi car and waited for it.
I've only been a passenger in a Myvi before that for less than 10mins.
Never really take notice of it back then as I wasn't looking for another car years back.
Days after I've got my car, I've never regretted getting the Myvi despite having to loan the additional RM7k.
First of all, the fuel efficiency is truely amazing.
I'm getting at least 450km based on RM60 which translate to 12.5km/liter with occasional (about 4days in a week XD) shit-i'm-late-for-work driving.
Seating is very generous for both my parents and my sister.
Comfort is good enough considering its a brand new car for below RM50k.
Boot space is more than enough for us so far for shopping and some relative visits.
Have not gone outstation till now.
Spare parts are plenty.
There are too many bodykit choices if I, somehow, want to change the looks of it.
The only slack thing is its pretty under power when the aircond is turned on.
Else when the aircond is off, its good enough to move around without much stress even with 4 person in it.
My loan interest rate is at 3.8% or was it 3.75%. Somewhere there as I was told that Bank Negara sort of set a fixed loan rate for brand new local cars.
I do not find the Viva is worth paying. RM40k for a 1000cc engine, smaller, not as good looking in stock form, and its the lowest end car by Perodua
Saga is good but the looks is a major turn off.
I believe the Myvi GHS should be in manual transmission whereas the ZHS in automatic.
Good luck! :D
