My SE (manufacturer yr '89), just about 20 year-old and I've just hardly got my car insurance (Kurnia) renewed for this year. However, the bad news I heard form the insurance agent is my car may no longer be able to renew by Kurnia starting from next year onwards due to more than 20 years? The only 2 insurance comapny that may still accept my car are UniAsia & Multipuirpose insurance, but with condition I need to have JPJ inspection first and must refer to their main branch for renewal.

Is any SE (or most of the LE) onwer having such experience and what is the best way to handle it?

i never heard of the jpj inspection thing when i renewed my LE insurance 2 weeks ago at kuching main post office. it was 3rd party MAA and costs rm60+. the rest of the insurance companies ask to pay 2 passenger personal insurance that amounted to rm135 plus car 3rd party insurance that is rm65 and in total rm200.

but on the following tuesday, i went to the same place to renew my datsun 120y insurance and was shocked that i MUST pay for 2 passenger personal insurance for the same MAA policy. i got furious and decide not to pay. how can the policy changed overnight just like that? stupid a$$hole insurance companies. stupid bloodsuckers

called up bank negara malaysia and they recomended uniasia and multipurpose insurance under MNIA o what shit.called uniasia up and they said no need to pay for passenger personal insurance if my car has been insured with them before. gonna visit their office this week and i hope i dont get anymore weird overnight policy changes or else im really gonna phuck them off

Go to Alliance bank, they sell 3rd party insurance. I just renew my 2+ something years Starlet.

How about 1st party for our old cars? I mean, is there any insurance out there that can cover a car with all the mods covered? Nowadays, the insurance only covers the book value, regardless of how much money you've put into your car modifying or converting it.

for my SE 89' also have some problem.....i still can buy 1st party with RM 8K for my car....but addition 15% of the total amount , then discount 45% for no claim bonus...........
if i didnot have 45% discount.....just my sister car proton wira RM 5K , my sister just buy 3rd party at Pejabat Pos....then can renew roadtax.....

Alliance or Allianz ??? :hmmmm:

not sure about Allianz bank 3rd party insurance...

but so far...being using Allianz car insurance since they took over Cimb Insurance (vice versa) ...
the claims, towing what so ever...soo far no mess no hassle...

try to list out any bank that would take 3rd party insurance...perhaps it will help others to sort it out more easily... :wavey:

anyone...?

for those over 20 still ok. those cars 25 years and above not entitled 1st party anymore  :thefinger::thefinger::thefinger:

The insurance company is Bejaya.

how much u paid for it bro? nid to buy personal insurance?

yupp need to pay PA as well. I not sure how much... but hearing is about RM 400 include road tax

hah...the thing is...i not willing to pay the PA. its rm60+ per person and nid to insure 2 person. total insurance for all is rm200 for one car plus 3rd party insurance. 2 weeks ago, there was a loophole o something that enabled my LE to pay only rm60+ for 3rd party insurance and PA is not required. thats from MAA. but last week MAA imposed the PA thing too. so what the heck are they doing? one day say this...another day say that? wanna make us consumers look and feel like idiots? :thefinger:

I worry 1 days, the car over 20 year cannot renew insurance already. Then where our beloved monster car need to kept? and we no money to buy a new car... How we gonna live? DAMN this BN! I think its time to change government already! They only simply think of their hole, but never think how of citizen. They give us RM 625 last year, but now seem to taking back every year!

today i went to uniasia...got a clearer pic of the MNIA thing by the gov. thats the way it should have been in malaysia and it shud be made mandatory longggg longgg time ago. cars age above 20 yrs shud be inspected at a LOW fee every year b4 their roadtax can be renewed la. just to make sure that everybody takes care of their old cars and is really roadworthy.

i sent my datsun 120y to puspakom today and got charged a fee of rm50 which is quite high. with the report from puspakom, uniasia will issue me a 3rd party insurance that costs rm68. however, this still cheaper than paying for 3rd party with 2 person PA or 1st party coverage.

bro abubu, wht u mean was for those car that over 20 years and above that wanna renew roadtax need to go to puspakom to have a check 1st to get the 3rd party insurance?

yes can...lol...done with all the hassle. its MMIP...or Malaysian Motor Insurance Pool. my bad. uniasia and multipurpose insurance is just their agent. they accept 3rd party that costs my datsun 120y rm63.85. but haveto submit puspakom test report la. finally got my road tax renewed.

Bump:

i dont know whether to answer yes or no. smaller insurance companies like berjaya sompo and even MAA lets us renew our 20+ year old car insurance but must pay for 2 person PA in addition to 3rd party vehicle insurance la.

like what u said...this option is if we opt not to pay for 2 person PA that is offered by MAA or other companies that offer that type of scheme for our 20+ yr old car. then we need to send our car to puspakom, have it inspected, get the cert and we can renew our insurance from MMIP via uniasia and multipurpose insurance. payment for puspakom check is rm50 and 3rd party insurance is rm63.85...still cheaper than paying for 2 person PA.
