over 20 laps of the dogfight and theres so little footage or not any , if i can remember , showing alonso tailing schumi .. nevertheless exciting race from start ( 1 of the backmarkers barrelrolling lol ) till end .

Those stupid Italian race directors should be sack for such a poor live coverage of this race. 80% of the race shows the leading drivers and they didn't give proper coverage of what was going on behind Alonso and Michael. A terrible coverage.

However, it was a good win by Michael. Renault made a poor judgement of the pitstops and that probably cost them. In all honesty, Ferrari weren't that quick and if not for the track design and Renaults screwed up strategy, they would not have won. Bridgestones seem to have some problem with the tyres. Michael was doing so well until after the 1st pitstop where he totally lost pace.

Its a great win for Michael, not so easy considering Alonso was behind him for a good 20 laps or so.

Ferrari didn't win the race, Ross Brown and Schumacher did. Ross Brown's Strategy to "control the race at the front" work perfectly with Schumacher flawless driving skill. In the last 16 laps, Schumacher didn't make much mistake althought under high pressure from Alonso. Alonso make too many mistake in the last few laps, or perhaps Michelin rubber/ Renault car cause that.

Ferrari+bridgestone package still not competitve enough. Renault and McLaren finish 2nd, 3rd and 5th, but still having a faster speed compare with Schumacher's Ferrari in P1 in the 2nd half of the race.

Congra to Ferrari, however, tactic as such won't work at other circuit, coz Imola is a circuit that very hard to do overtaking. Ferrari + Bridgstone package will still failed at other circuit if Bridgestone doesn't have the grip and Ferrari doesn't have the speed.

ide, another kamikaze driver beside Sato?

who is the idot who run across the pitlane at the corner where incoming F1 car can't really see him?

Honda, Lollipop man give Button an "unforgivable" pitstop.

Rubens and Button pit very early, I believe that's explain why Honda have very good qualifying result but sucks during race --> Qualify with light fuel load on board.

I like Alonso's fighting spirit, tailgate Schumacher and try to pressure him to make mistake eventhought the over taking change is slim. If Schumacher is at P2 and with Alonso ahead, Schumacher will save the engine, pull back and try play safe. I won't blame Schumi, if I were Ross Brown and John Todt, I were do the same thing, but it will make the race very boring.

We are going to miss Foster's girl at the end of 2006. :(

yeah...........MSC win the circuit championship again.........
well done Micheal!!!!!!!!
Keep winning..........

Yes, i agree that Michael did not unleash his full potential when Alonso was tailgating him like mad. He sped up just a little when Alonso pitted. He was basically controlling Alonso's pace as Michael knew very much where and when to accelerate away or to slow down. However, he was never that quick too but just had enough speed to stay in front after he pitted.

Nevertheless, the Ferrari master tactician got it just right. Renault screwed up by getting Alonso to pit early. He should have been a little more patient, drop his revs, conserve more fuel, saved his tyres and when Michael pitted put in 2 or 3 stunning laps and bang..he would have won.

BTW, Alonso nearly lost his car in the last 2 laps while chasing Michael. Guess his tyres were expiring. Either that or Renault told him to back off as he still has a healthy lead.

prodigy, yes, agree, if Alonso were to save fuel, stay longer than Shumacher before his 2nd stop.Alonso could have walk away with another win.

schumi played the right tactic by driving defensively, and occasionally slowing rapidly before the corners to cause alonso to loose momentum as there is no way that the ferrari could match the renault's handling... really well driven by the former champion.

wonder wat happen to kimi...hehehe

honda best at qualifying but sux big time during race....

Old timer know how is the way to handle pressure from the young ones!!!
That's Schumi!!!
Glad that he had been back on his form with his modified Ferrari!!!

Honda and Jenson Button have consistently screw up when it matters most. No wonder he's the driver with the highest number of race without winning a race. Jenson Button, or rather his team in overall lacks the cutting edge needed to win. I feel for him.
