This was something I did a while ago. I realised that the hot air from the radiator fan blows directly at the air filter and this will cause the air intake tempreature to be high. I had a hose that channels air from a scoop from under the car so I though that building a heat shield around the filter would b a great idea. the details are at http://post-spm.blogspot.com/2005_02_06_post-spm_archive.html. scroll down a bit to look at the pictures. I used some old aluminium sheets that i had lying around to make it. it fits perfectly into the air filter and the engine compartment.

just thought that i'll share it with you guys

u can add a layer of superlon on de aluminium heatshield for better heatshield effect...

i saw something like a dick pointing to ur filter.... is it ur CAI hose?? :P

lol yea, tat's the tube channeling the cold air from the scoop under the car. it's not thick enough, should use those from air cond ducting, but it was too expensive.

wad do u guys think about putting a hood scoop? anyone with experience with a hood scoop? does it put it more drag (i.e. slow down the car)?

OMG it does look like a dick.
hahaahhaha

i sell CAI vinyl hoses if you want :) comes in 2", 2.5", 3"
me thinks you'll find the 2.5" useful :)

haha i would love to put those in but like i said, i don't have my car with me now so i can't do anything on it =(

regardless of the dick...the heat shield is nice though :)

hey ninja_iga! how ur hose looks like? i finding around 3" that looks like aluminium type...do u sell it?

mine's not aluminium, it's vinyl.

very smooth inside and flexible too.
comes in several diameters. 2", 2.5", 3" is common.

i sell by the feet.

this is a 2" hose fitted on a Kelisa :)

this is a 2.5" hose fitted on a Wira :)

thanks guys :)

hmm... vinlys? wont it melt? i think maybe aluminium tubes will reflect off the heat from the engine... just my 2 cents

true,
but if route properly, no heat.

why do you wanna route the pipe thru the hot areas? the heated hose will heat up the intake temp. Especially aluminium, which transfers heat very easily.

aluminium tubes will conduct heat faster lo... if want better use plastic or non irony stuff lo... check for its heat conductivity first if u want best results...

jz my 2 cents

hm.. just that i've never seen anyone using plastic tubes in the engine compartment before. ya, routing it properly will b the best solution.
